Student answer (Band 5.5)

The diagram below illustrates how fabric is manufacture from bamboo tree.

Overall, there are nine steps that use in the procedure of a final product.

In the beginning, the first step is to grow bamboo plants espiecially in the spring season in which the weather is suitable for its growth. After that in the next step, the farmers harvest bamboo when the season will change into Autumn.

Meanwhile, following the procedure the workers cut the bamboo plant into strips and then crush it by getting a liquid pulp that contain lots of minerals. Although, we can put the liquid into the machine where liquid filter properly and we get long fibres instead of liquid that helpful for further progression.By adding some water and amine oxide into fibres by make it more soften and then by following spinning method we get yarn that further use for making different kinds of clothes like shirts, socks and caps. At the last point we deliver the products into various shops for sale.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the process as having nine steps and include several key stages, such as planting in spring, harvesting in autumn, cutting and crushing the bamboo, and producing yarn and clothing. However, the account only partially covers the diagram: the weaving stage is not clearly reported, and the final step is described as delivering products to shops, which is not shown. Some details are also invented or unsupported, including the claim that the pulp contains many minerals and that the weather is suitable for growth. The overview is too general to summarise the main transformation. To improve, give a concise overview of the progression from growing bamboo to finished garments, then report each depicted stage accurately without adding assumptions.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic chronological structure, moving from planting and harvesting through processing to the products, and phrases such as “After that” and “At the last point” help signal sequence. However, the stages are not consistently separated or clearly grouped: most of the processing steps are compressed into one long paragraph, making the progression difficult to follow. Some linking expressions are inaccurate or awkward, such as “Meanwhile” and “Although,” which do not express the relationships intended. The final sentence also introduces selling, interrupting the diagram’s sequence. Use separate paragraphs for an overview and the stages, and connect each step with simple, precise sequencing language.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant process vocabulary, including “harvest,” “strips,” “liquid pulp,” “fibres,” “spinning,” and “yarn,” which allows the reader to understand much of the process. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “fabric is manufacture,” “the procedure of a final product,” and “filter properly.” There are also spelling errors, including “espiecially,” and imprecise wording such as “different kinds of clothes” and “further progression.” Aim for accurate process terms and natural collocations, for example, describe fibres being filtered and softened before they are spun into yarn. Avoid adding unsupported technical claims, as these reduce precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts some longer sentences and uses sequencing clauses, for example, “After that in the next step…” and “by following spinning method…,” but these structures are often faulty. Errors include the incorrect verb form in “fabric is manufacture,” the agreement error in “pulp that contain,” and the unclear construction “by make it more soften.” Tense and sentence control are also inconsistent, as in “when the season will change into Autumn.” The long sentence beginning “Meanwhile” contains several stages joined without clear grammatical boundaries, which makes relationships between ideas hard to follow. Practise accurate present-simple descriptions of processes and build shorter sentences with clear subjects and verbs before attempting more complex structures.
