Student answer (Band 5.0)

The given chart iluustrates how fabric is manufactured from bambo step by step, its quite an intersting topic and very meaningfull.

The first step is to a plant a bamabo tree which is obvious, secondly you will have to harvest autumn from the trees and cut them into picies then you will have to crush strips to make a liquid pulp after that the next step is to filter and separate the long fibres from the liquid then its necessary to soften the fibres by dding water and amine oxide which is then spinned to create yam and yam is weaved to create fabric which is then used in textile industries all over the world for making clothes,eg socks shirts etc....

We all wear clothes from different brands and it is very interesting to find out how a normal tree can be used as a fuel to run textile industries all over the world.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the main stages from planting and harvesting bamboo through processing fibres, spinning yarn and weaving fabric, and you include the water and amine oxide used to soften the fibres. However, the account is only a partial summary: it lacks a clear overview of the process as a whole, and the final step—finished clothing such as a T-shirt and socks—is not clearly reported. Some details are inaccurate or unsupported: the diagram shows bamboo plants, not specifically a tree, and it does not say the fabric is used in textile industries “all over the world” or that bamboo is used as fuel. Focus on the diagram’s sequence and endpoint, and avoid personal commentary.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The stages are presented in roughly the correct order, and linking expressions such as “secondly,” “after that” and “then” help the reader follow the process. However, nearly all the process information is compressed into one long paragraph and sentence, so the progression feels mechanical and is difficult to scan. The opening and closing comments about the topic being interesting and clothes being worn worldwide interrupt the process description rather than developing it. Use a brief introduction and overview, then group the agricultural and manufacturing stages into clear paragraphs. Shorter sentences and more precise links between stages would make the sequence easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant process vocabulary, including “harvest,” “liquid pulp,” “fibres,” “amine oxide” and “weaved,” which helps convey the basic production sequence. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings reduce clarity and precision: “yam” appears where “yarn” is intended, “picies” for “pieces,” and “a normal tree” is an imprecise description of bamboo. Phrases such as “very meaningfull” and “quite an intersting topic” are conversational and do not suit a factual process summary. Choose accurate technical terms and neutral language, and check spelling carefully so the reader can understand each stage without distraction.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts to connect several stages using clauses, for example, “which is then spinned to create yam,” but the long, heavily joined sentence shows limited control of sentence boundaries and punctuation. There are also errors in grammatical forms and patterns, such as “The first step is to a plant” and “harvest autumn from the trees”; the latter does not express the intended action clearly. Missing spaces after commas and the repeated use of “then” further affect readability. Build the description with a mix of shorter, complete sentences and carefully controlled complex sentences. Check articles, verb forms and punctuation, especially when describing each step in sequence.
