Write at least 150 words.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
The linear process diagram shows that how bamboo fabric is manufactured.
Overall, there are total nine steps in which the fabric is manufactured from bamboo. Whereas the process begins with plantation of bamboo plants in Spring season and the end results of the process is shirt and socks from bamboo fabric.
The process begin with planting of bamboo plants in Spring afterthat harvest the plants of bamboo in Autumn. Morever the bamboo cut into srips by cutter then crush strips to make liquid plup. Furthermore the liquid plup filter to seperate long fibers from liquid.
In addition add water and amine oxide in liquid plup to soften the fibers then spin the soften fiber to make yarn. The second last step of the process is weave to make fabric from yarn then in the last step use the bamboo fabric to make shirt and socks.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the process as having nine stages and give a relevant overview, including the seasonal planting and harvesting and the final clothing products. Most stages are reported in the correct order, from cutting and crushing through to weaving. However, some details are unclear or imprecise: for example, “the liquid pulp filter” does not clearly explain that filtering separates long fibres from liquid, and the final stage is better described as producing clothing from the fabric. The response also falls five words short of the required minimum, so it does not fully meet the task instructions. To strengthen the report, explain the key transformations more precisely and include a little more detail about the materials at each stage.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and descriptions of the early and later stages. The sequence is generally easy to follow, and connectors such as “Furthermore,” “In addition,” and “then” help show progression. However, some linking is mechanical, and the long strings of stages make relationships less clear—for example, “afterthat harvest … Morever the bamboo cut…” combines several steps without clear sentence boundaries. The overview’s “Whereas” also does not connect two contrasting clauses effectively. Use separate sentences for groups of stages and vary transitions to show sequence and cause more naturally. This would make the progression smoother and the paragraphing more effective.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant process vocabulary, including “harvest,” “crush,” “filter,” “fibers,” “yarn,” and “weave,” which allows the reader to recognise the main stages. However, the range is somewhat limited, and several spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision: “srips,” “plup,” and “seperate” are noticeable, while “plantation of bamboo plants” is an awkward repetition. Some phrases also do not describe the process naturally, such as “use the bamboo fabric to make shirt and socks.” Aim for accurate process terms and natural collocations, such as “bamboo is planted,” “the pulp is filtered,” and “the fabric is made into clothing.” Proofreading spelling would also improve clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, errors occur frequently in verb forms, articles, agreement, and sentence construction. Examples include “shows that how” (the clause should not use both “that” and “how”), “there are total nine steps,” “The process begin,” and “the bamboo cut into strips.” The overview sentence beginning “Whereas” is also incomplete as written. Most stages are expressed in a similar pattern, so the range remains limited. Practise forming accurate passive sentences for process descriptions—for example, “The strips are crushed” and “The fibres are softened”—and check subject–verb agreement and articles before submitting.
