Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response identifies the main stages from planting and autumn harvesting through processing, spinning and weaving, so the basic process is recognisable. However, it does not give a clear overview of the process as a whole, and several details are inaccurate or added without support. For example, the diagram shows the fibres being softened with water and amine oxide, but does not say they are left until they become “solid”; it also shows finished clothing, not dyeing, selling or making a profit. The description of filtering is repeated and unclear. To address the task more fully, summarise the process in an overview and report only the stages and details shown, in their correct order.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is a basic chronological progression, and linking expressions such as “after harvesting,” “after that” and “then” help the reader follow the stages. However, the response is presented as one long sentence-like paragraph, with many stages joined by commas and repeated connectors. This makes the progression feel mechanical and sometimes obscures where one stage ends and the next begins. The filtering stage is also described twice, which interrupts the flow. Organise the response into a brief overview followed by a clearly sequenced description, using full stops to separate stages and a wider range of accurate links such as “subsequently” or “once the fibres have been separated.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses some relevant process vocabulary, including “harvested,” “strips,” “liquid pulp,” “fibres,” “spin” and “weave,” which makes the general subject clear. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate, including “manufacturion,” “ling fibres,” “straight fibre” and “varieties bt addition og dyes.” Some phrases, such as “carried at a place” and “for economy and profit,” are unnatural or not relevant to the diagram. Aim for precise process terms and accurate spelling, and avoid adding unsupported commercial details. For instance, describe the final stage as producing clothing items rather than claiming that the products are sold for profit.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts to connect several stages using clauses, for example, “after harvesting it will carried … where it have to cut,” but these longer constructions are often faulty and make the process harder to understand. Errors include missing auxiliaries (“it will carried”), subject–verb agreement (“it have”), and inconsistent tense choices between present and future forms. Articles and sentence boundaries are also poorly controlled, with most of the response running together as one extended sentence. Use the present simple consistently for a process description, such as “The bamboo is harvested in autumn and cut into strips,” and separate each major stage with a full stop. This would make the sequence clearer and reduce recurring grammatical errors.
