Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Write at least 150 words.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
The diagram illustrated a process of making fabric clothes from bamboo. Overall, it is clear that a process of manufacturing fabric clothes depend on nine crucial stages. The first and very important stage is plant bamboo in spring and after that this process are moving to next stages.
The first step of making clothes is plant bamboo in spring season and after that harvest the plants in autumn season. In next stage cut plant into strips in pieces. Moreover, in fourth stage crush the pieces of strips to make liquid pulp. In fifth stage, filter the liquid pulp and seperate long fibres from liquid.
In sharp contrast, in next and sixth stage of making clothes, add water and amine oxide to soften fibres. In seventh step spin fibre to make yarn and in second last stage weave yarn to make fabric. In final step, beautiful clothes and socks are ready that made from bamboo.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover the main stages in the correct order, from planting bamboo in spring and harvesting it in autumn through to weaving fabric and producing clothing. You also include key process details, such as crushing the strips into pulp, filtering out long fibres, and adding water and amine oxide to soften them. The opening gives an overview of the nine-stage process, although it does not clearly summarise the main transformation from raw bamboo to finished products. Some descriptions are less precise: “beautiful clothes and socks are ready” is evaluative, and the diagram shows finished clothing items rather than stating that they are beautiful. A clearer overview and more consistently factual wording would make the summary more complete and precise.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall arrangement: it introduces the process, describes the early stages in one paragraph, and continues through the later stages in another. Sequencing expressions such as “In next stage,” “In fifth stage,” and “In final step” help the reader follow the order. However, the linking is sometimes mechanical, with repeated references to numbered stages rather than smoother connections between related steps. “In sharp contrast” is not appropriate because the later stages do not contrast with the earlier ones; they simply continue the process. The overview also repeats the idea of the first stage instead of highlighting the overall progression. Use a wider range of accurate transitions and clearer paragraph focus to improve flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant process vocabulary, including “harvest,” “strips,” “liquid pulp,” “fibres,” “soften,” “spin,” and “weave,” which allows you to report most stages clearly. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “amine oxide.” However, some word choices and collocations are awkward or imprecise: “fabric clothes” and “beautiful clothes” are less suitable than neutral descriptions of fabric and finished garments, while “plant bamboo plants” is repetitive. Spelling errors such as “seperate” also reduce accuracy. Aim for concise, natural process language and check spelling; this will make the vocabulary more precise without requiring unnecessarily complex terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple sentences and longer structures, and the sequence is generally understandable. However, errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction are noticeable. For example, “a process … depend on nine crucial stages” should use “depends,” and “this process are moving” has incorrect agreement and an awkward verb form. The phrase “The first step … is plant bamboo” needs an infinitive or gerund, while “In next stage cut plant into strips” lacks a clear subject and article. Punctuation is also inconsistent, as in “clothes, add” and “step, beautiful.” Practise forming complete passive or active process sentences and check agreement and articles; greater control would make the description easier to read.
