Student answer (Band 4.5)

The process of manafacturing fabric from bamboo has been shown on the given diagramme and this process consists of different stepswhich are discribed below one by one. Step no 1 The fisrt step is to plant the bamboo plants in the soil and this planting have a specific time or season that is season of spring, mean this plantation will not occur if season has been changed so there is a limited time to plant this crop Step no 2 the second step is to harvest the crop and harvesting shuld also be done in specific season and for the harvesting the best season is autumn Step no 3 the tird step after harvesting the bamboo is to cut its strips mean removing the leafy or greeny structures so that it can help for further upcoming steps Step no 4 fouth step is to crush the strips Step no 5 filtration is next step after crushing.During filtration long fibres are separarted from liquid Step no 6 the last step is to soften the fibres by adding water and amine oxide

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response identifies several early stages accurately, including planting in spring, harvesting in autumn, cutting the bamboo, crushing it, filtering the mixture, and softening the fibres with water and amine oxide. However, it stops at step six and omits the final stages: spinning the fibres into yarn, weaving the fabric, and producing clothing. It also lacks a clear overview of the process as a whole, and some details are unsupported or inaccurate—for example, the text says cutting removes “leafy or greeny structures,” which the diagram does not state. To improve, summarise the complete sequence and highlight its broad progression from growing and harvesting bamboo to making finished garments.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The numbered “Step no” sequence gives the reader a basic sense of order, and the stages that are included generally follow the diagram’s progression. However, the response is presented as one long, crowded block, with little paragraphing or punctuation to separate stages. Repeated openings such as “Step no 1,” “Step no 2,” and “Step no 3” make the organisation mechanical, while links between stages are limited. The opening promises that the steps will be described “one by one,” but there is no concluding overview. Use clear paragraphs, concise transitions such as “Next” or “After this,” and a final sentence that brings the process to its endpoint.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some relevant process vocabulary, including “harvest,” “strips,” “crush,” “filtration,” and “fibres,” so the reader can recognise the general subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings reduce clarity, such as “greeny structures,” “plantation,” and “separarted.” “Plantation” is also an awkward choice for describing the act of planting bamboo. Repetition of “step” and “specific season” further limits variety. Aim for precise process terms and accurate spelling, and use verbs that describe each stage directly—for example, “the bamboo is harvested” and “the fibres are separated from the liquid.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts some longer sentences, such as the explanation that planting has a specific season, but sentence structures are often incomplete or difficult to follow. For example, “Step no 4 fouth step is to crush the strips” lacks clear punctuation and a well-formed introductory structure, while “this planting have a specific time” has subject–verb disagreement. Tense and article use are also inconsistent, and several stages run together without sentence boundaries. Most of the writing relies on repetitive simple statements rather than a controlled range of structures. Practise forming complete sentences with consistent present simple or passive forms, and use full stops to separate each stage.
