Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Write at least 150 words.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
Bamboo grows very well in Spring which will be harvested in Autmn. There is a significant process of transforming bamboo into fabric..Firstly, we have to cut the bamboo strips and crush the strips to make liquid pulp. After segregating the long fibers, some water as well as amine oxide needs to add for softing the fibers which will ready the pulp to make yarn os spain. Finally, we will find weave to make fabric which will use to make apparels .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify the general subject and mention several relevant stages, including harvesting, crushing, filtering, softening, spinning and weaving. However, the response reports the process only minimally: it omits the final clothing stage and does not clearly explain the full sequence, including planting in spring and harvesting in autumn as the opening stages. There is also no clear overview of how the process moves from growing bamboo to finished products. The description is substantially below the required 150 words, which leaves important features undeveloped. To improve, give a concise overview first, then describe all stages in order, including the final clothing items, and add enough accurate detail to cover the process fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic chronological shape, using “Firstly” and “Finally” to signal movement through the process, and most of the stages are presented in a broadly understandable order. However, the progression is incomplete and some links between stages are unclear: “After segregating the long fibers” does not clearly connect the filtering stage to the addition of water and amine oxide. The whole answer is also presented as one paragraph, with no distinct overview and process description. Use a short overview followed by a logically ordered paragraph, and choose linking expressions that make each transition explicit, such as “The pulp is then filtered” and “After this, the fibres are softened.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant process vocabulary, including “harvested,” “liquid pulp,” “fibers,” “yarn” and “fabric,” so the reader can recognise the topic. However, the range is limited, and several inaccurate or misspelled choices make the description less clear, such as “Autmn,” “softing,” “spain” and “weave” where a process verb is needed. “Segregating” is also an awkward choice for separating fibres from liquid. Aim for precise process language and check spelling and word forms. For example, use “separate” or “filter” for the fibres, “soften” for the treatment, “spin” to produce yarn, and “woven” to describe the fabric.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences, for example with “After segregating the long fibers,” and use some passive forms such as “will be harvested.” However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some relationships difficult to follow. In “amine oxide needs to add,” the passive construction is incomplete; write “needs to be added.” “Which will ready the pulp” also lacks a verb form, and “which will use to make apparels” needs a passive structure such as “which will be used to make clothing.” There are also punctuation problems, including missing spaces after full stops and a doubled full stop. Practise accurate passive forms and separate each process stage into clear sentences.
