Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

You identify the topic and give a basic overview: the process has nine steps, begins in spring, and ends with clothing products. These points are relevant, but the response does not describe the main stages shown, such as harvesting in autumn, cutting and crushing the bamboo, filtering and softening the fibres, then spinning and weaving. The ending is also incomplete, so the final stage is not fully reported. The required minimum of 150 words is not met, which leaves most of the process unexplained. To improve, complete the overview and report the stages in sequence, including the key transformation from bamboo to yarn and fabric.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a simple, understandable structure: an opening sentence introduces the diagram, followed by an overview beginning with “Overall.” The reference to nine steps gives the reader a useful organising point. However, there is no developed sequence of stages, so the response does not progress through the process, and the final sentence stops abruptly after “clothing products.” This makes the ending feel unfinished. Use separate paragraphs for an overview and the process details, then connect stages with clear sequencing expressions such as “next,” “after this,” and “finally.” This would create a more complete progression while retaining the straightforward organisation already present.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some relevant process vocabulary, including “manufacturing process,” “steps,” and “clothing products,” and the topic is generally clear. However, the range is very limited because the response names almost none of the specific actions in the diagram. Some expressions are also unnatural or imprecise: “pictorial view” is less suitable than “diagram,” and “bamboo tree peaked” does not clearly express that the plants are grown before harvesting. Build a more precise vocabulary for the stages, such as “harvest,” “crush,” “filter,” “soften the fibres,” “spin into yarn,” and “weave into fabric.” Accurate process terms will make the account clearer and more informative.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response shows some control of basic sentence forms, including the opening clause “The pictorial view explains…” and the overview sentence beginning “Overall.” However, the range is narrow, and the final sentence is incomplete: “and ends as clothing products” has no finished grammatical construction. In “when bamboo tree peaked,” the article and verb form do not fit the intended meaning; a clearer structure would be “when the bamboo is harvested” or “when the bamboo plants have grown.” The phrase “in manufacturing of this fabric material” also needs an article or a different construction. Practise complete sentences and use passive forms to describe stages, for example, “The bamboo is cut into strips.”
