Student answer (Band 5.5)
The diagram shows the procedure of fabric making like how bamboo used for the manufacture of fabric.
Overall, there is total 7 steps used for how fabric is made. First step is start in spring when bamboo plants and end in the form of cloths. its time taking procedure.
Firstly, a plant of bamboo plants in the season of spring. After that harvest these bamboos in autumn. Third step is cut down these bamboos into strips. Crush these strips to make theme liquid pulp. Step 5 consist of filter for separate long fibers from liquid.
By adding water and amine oxide, soften fibers. Next step is yarn making, for this spin the fibres which we collect. Weave the yarn is 2nd last step to make fabric. Fabric is ready, then last step is to used this fabric to make different type of cloths. By followed these steps we get a fine quality cloths.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the process as bamboo becoming fabric and describe the main stages in broadly correct order, including planting in spring, harvesting in autumn, crushing, filtering, softening, spinning and weaving. However, the overview says there are “total 7 steps,” whereas the diagram shows nine, and it does not clearly summarise the full progression from cultivation to finished clothing. The final stage is mentioned, but “different type of cloths” is imprecise: the diagram shows clothing items made from the fabric. Some stages are also compressed or unclear, such as “Step 5 consist of filter.” To strengthen the response, give an accurate overview of the nine-stage process and report each transformation precisely, without adding unsupported claims such as “fine quality.”
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable sequence and uses basic signposts such as “Overall,” “Firstly,” “After that,” and “Next step,” which help the reader follow the process. The paragraphing also separates the overview from the stage-by-stage account. However, progression is weakened by the incorrect seven-step overview and by abrupt transitions between some stages: “Crush these strips…” and “By adding water…” are not clearly linked to the numbered sequence. The final sentence repeats the idea that the process produces cloth rather than adding useful information. Use consistent sequencing language and connect each stage explicitly to the next, while keeping the overview distinct from the detailed description.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant process vocabulary, including “harvest,” “strips,” “liquid pulp,” “fibers,” “spin,” and “weave,” so the reader can generally understand the manufacturing stages. There is some useful variation in describing the materials and actions. However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, including “procedure of fabric making,” “cloths,” “fine quality cloths,” and “a plant of bamboo plants.” Repetition of “step” and “fabric” also limits the range. Aim for precise process collocations and accurate forms, such as “manufacturing process,” “bamboo is planted,” “finished garments,” and “the fibres are spun into yarn.” These changes would make the description clearer and more appropriate to an academic process report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple sentences and longer constructions, for example, “By adding water and amine oxide, soften fibers,” and “After that harvest these bamboos in autumn.” However, the range is limited, and frequent errors in sentence formation and verb forms sometimes make the process difficult to follow. Examples include “there is total 7 steps used,” “First step is start,” and “then last step is to used this fabric.” Articles, agreement, and plural forms are also inconsistent, as in “a plant of bamboo plants.” Practise forming complete passive sentences suited to a process diagram, such as “The bamboo is harvested in autumn” and “The fibres are softened by adding water and amine oxide.”
