Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

The response identifies the diagram as a manufacturing process and gives a broad starting point, mentioning planting in spring and harvesting in autumn. However, it stops after the bamboo is cut into strips and does not report the remaining stages: crushing, filtering, softening the fibres, spinning yarn, weaving fabric, or producing clothing. The overview that there are nine stages is relevant, but the process is not summarised sufficiently for the reader to understand how bamboo becomes fabric. The response is also substantially below the required 150 words, which leaves the task only minimally addressed. To improve, describe the full sequence and include a concise overview of the transformation from harvested bamboo to finished products.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the information in process order: the response moves from planting to harvesting and then to cutting. The opening overview also signals that the diagram contains nine stages. However, the account ends abruptly at “It go for strip,” so there is no progression through the rest of the process or a clear concluding stage. The ideas are not separated into paragraphs, and the link between the overview and the description is weak. Some sequencing is implied by “so then,” but this is not enough to guide the reader through a multi-stage process. Use a clear overview followed by a complete, step-by-step description, with accurate connectors such as “next,” “after this,” and “finally.”

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses a small set of relevant process words, including “process,” “planting,” “harvest,” and “strip,” so the general topic is recognisable. However, the vocabulary range is very limited for describing the diagram, and several expressions are unclear or imprecise. “It go for strip” does not clearly communicate that the bamboo is cut into strips, while “final products” is not supported by any description of the clothing shown. The phrase “former starts planting” is also an unsuitable way to refer to the first stage. Use precise process vocabulary such as “cut into strips,” “crush,” “filter,” “soften the fibres,” “spin into yarn,” and “weave into fabric” to report the stages accurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts a longer sentence to explain the timing of planting and harvesting, but grammatical control is weak and the sentence is difficult to follow: “former starts planting in spring that wait for it until be mature in Autumn so then he can harvest.” There are problems with sentence structure, missing subjects and auxiliaries, verb forms, and punctuation. The opening also has an incorrect construction in “the process of fabric is manufactured”; a clearer pattern would be “the process by which fabric is manufactured.” “Overall process contain” shows an agreement error, and “It go” has an incorrect verb form. Most sentences are not reliably controlled, and the response offers little evidence of varied structures. Practise accurate simple passive forms, for example, “The bamboo is harvested in autumn,” before adding longer sentences.
