Student answer (Band 5.5)
The diagram illustrates the nine step process of manufacturing fabric from bamboo.
Overall, the nine steps process are pictoral display of fabric creation starting with plantation of bamboo and ends with fabric item. The steps are interlinked with each-other.
The first step stared with plant bamboo plants in the spring season, Second step involved in the harvest of bamboo in the season of Autumn. After processed harvest the next phase start which includes cuting of bamboo into strips. The crused strips are then make liquid pulp in the fourth step thus this step enables filter process which includes separate long fibres from liquid. The six step invloves soften fibres which is done by adding water and amine oxide. This step next flows to spin part to make yarn.
The yarn then waeve in eighth step to make fabric as a result the final product in the last step is bamboo fabric clothes or garnments.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover the main stages and give a relevant overview: production begins with planting in spring and ends with finished clothing. The sequence from harvesting through cutting, crushing, filtering, softening, spinning and weaving is mostly represented, and the addition of water and amine oxide is accurately included. However, some stages are less clearly reported than others. The overview says the process ends with “fabric item,” while the diagram’s final stage specifically shows clothing; this detail appears only at the end. Also, “the crushed strips are then make liquid pulp” makes the crushing stage unclear, and the final step could be distinguished more clearly from weaving fabric. A more precise overview and clearer descriptions of these stages would make the account more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and a chronological account of the process. The stages are generally presented in the correct order, and links such as “The yarn then” help the reader follow the final part. However, the body is largely one long paragraph, so the stages are crowded together. Some connections are also unclear or mechanical, as in “thus this step enables filter process,” and “This step next flows to spin part” does not clearly explain the transition. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and process details, and connect stages with precise sequencing language such as “After crushing” and “The fibres are then softened.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant process vocabulary, including “harvest,” “strips,” “liquid pulp,” “fibres,” “spin,” and “yarn,” which allows the reader to identify most stages. There are also attempts at more specific wording, such as “amine oxide.” However, several inaccurate word choices, word forms and spelling errors reduce precision: “plantation” is less suitable than “planting,” “crused” is misspelled, and “waeve” and “garments” are also misspelled. Phrases such as “fabric item” and “spin part” are vague or unnatural for this process. Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully, especially for key process terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple and more complex sentences, including a relative clause in “which includes separate long fibres from liquid.” However, grammatical control is inconsistent, and some errors make relationships between stages difficult to understand. For example, “the nine steps process are” has a number-agreement problem, while “the crushed strips are then make liquid pulp” has an incorrect verb construction. The sentence beginning “The first step stared…” also runs into the next stage without clear sentence boundaries, and “the final product … is” does not fit smoothly with the plural “clothes.” Practise accurate passive forms for process descriptions, such as “the strips are crushed,” and check agreement, articles and punctuation when joining stages.
