Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the process as bamboo being turned into clothing and include several key stages, including seasonal planting and harvesting, cutting, filtering, softening, spinning and weaving. However, the account is incomplete and sometimes imprecise: the crushing stage is described as cutting the strips into “small chunks,” and the final step of making clothing is only mentioned generally. There is no clear overview of the process’s full progression from growing the plant to finished products. The response also falls four words short of the required 150 words. To strengthen the report, give a concise overview and describe each stage accurately, including that crushing produces liquid pulp and that the final products shown are a T-shirt and socks.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The stages are mostly presented in the correct order, and paragraph breaks help separate the early processing from the later production of fabric and clothes. Sequencing phrases such as “In the very initial step,” “Later on,” and “After that” make the process understandable. However, the progression is not consistently smooth: “The we can use this spinned yarn” interrupts the connection between spinning and weaving, and the final paragraph repeats the idea that the response describes the overall procedure rather than adding a new stage. Use clearer links between each stage and organise the report into an introduction, a brief overview, and logically grouped process details. This would make the progression more coherent and reduce repetition.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant process vocabulary, including “strips,” “fibres,” “filteration process,” “yarn,” and “weaving,” which helps communicate the main subject. There is also an attempt to describe technical details, such as adding water and amine oxide. However, the range is limited, and several word choices or forms are inaccurate or awkward, including “formation of clothes,” “spinned yarn,” and “small chunks” for the crushed material. Spelling errors such as “cutt,” “seperating,” and “filteration” are noticeable. Aim for precise process terms and check spelling and collocations; for example, describe the material as being crushed into pulp and the fibres as being spun into yarn.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts to connect stages in longer sentences, using time clauses such as “after waiting for Autumn season to come” and a sequence of actions. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some parts awkward to follow. Examples include “bamboo tree is planted” without an article, “the strips cut into small chunks” without a passive verb, and “it is undergo the stage” with an incorrect verb construction. The final sentence, “how a pair of socks made,” also lacks the auxiliary verb. Practise accurate passive forms for process descriptions—such as “the strips are crushed” and “the fibres are softened”—and use shorter sentences when needed to maintain control.
