Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify the process as beginning with planting in spring and ending with clothing and socks, and you report several early stages in the correct order. However, the response covers only part of the diagram: it stops after separating the fibres and omits softening them with water and amine oxide, spinning yarn, weaving fabric, and the final products as a described stage. The overview that it is a linear process is relevant, but the main features are not sufficiently summarised. The response is also 91 words, below the required 150, which leaves important information undeveloped. To improve, describe all nine stages and include a concise overview of the transformation from bamboo plants to finished fabric and garments.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is a basic sense of sequence: the response moves from planting and harvesting to cutting, crushing, and separating fibres. The opening overview also gives the reader a general starting point and endpoint. However, the account ends abruptly, and the stages are presented in one long paragraph rather than being clearly grouped into an overview and a process description. Linking phrases such as “after that” are repeated, while the final clause, “once they are completely liquid separate long fibres from liquid,” is difficult to follow and does not clearly connect the actions. Use a clear paragraph structure and varied, accurate sequencing expressions, and make sure each stage leads explicitly to the next.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The response uses some relevant process vocabulary, including “harvest,” “strips,” “liquid pulp,” and “long fibres,” so the reader can recognise the general subject. However, the range is limited and several choices or forms are inaccurate, such as “producting clothes,” “small small strips,” and “fabric process.” These reduce precision and make parts of the description awkward. There is also little vocabulary for the later manufacturing stages, such as softening, spinning, and weaving, because those steps are not reported. Aim for precise process terms and avoid repetition; for example, use “cut into narrow strips” rather than “small small strips,” and “finished garments” for the final clothing products.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts both simple statements and a longer sequence, but grammatical control is weak and errors frequently affect clarity. For example, “The given diagram illustrate” has subject–verb disagreement, while “The manufacturing of bamboo fabric is liner process” is missing an article and contains an unclear sentence structure. The sentence beginning “Bamboo fabric is made by planting…” runs through several stages without reliable punctuation, and “once they are completely liquid separate…” lacks a clear grammatical connection between clauses. Capitalisation and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then combine stages using controlled clauses, articles, and punctuation—for instance, “The strips are crushed to produce pulp, which is then filtered.”
