Student answer (Band 6.0)

The diagram illustrates manufacturing process of fabric from bamboo.

Overall, there are nine steps to make bamboo fabric, is starts form plantation of bamboos and finish with weave where fabric make and ready for making cloths.

To begin with, in this process they use nine steps, first is bamboo plantation where they plants bamboo in huge quantity, then workers harvest them in autumn season, after harvesting, they forwards it for cut into strips, those strips then go for crush, where it convert into liquid pulp.

Furthermore, liquid then ready for filter, in this step long fibers separate from liquid in filter machine then, they add water and amine oxide on it for making fibers soft, after that it go for spin, in this level they spin the fibers to make yarn, and in last step of making bamboo fabric yarn transfer for weaving to make fabric, after finishing this step it is ready for making cloths.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You cover the main stages in the correct order, from planting and autumn harvesting through processing the fibres, spinning yarn and weaving fabric. The overview also identifies the nine-step sequence and the transformation from bamboo to fabric. However, some details are unclear or not fully faithful to the diagram: the final step shows finished clothing items, but you describe the process as finishing with weaving and say the fabric is then ready for clothes. The planting description adds “huge quantity,” which is not shown. To strengthen the response, distinguish the final clothing stage from weaving and describe the key processing stages more precisely, including crushing strips into pulp and separating long fibres from the liquid.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction and overview are followed by two paragraphs that trace the early and later stages. Sequencing expressions such as “To begin with,” “Furthermore,” and “after that” help the reader follow the process. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, with repeated “then” and “after” constructions, and several long sentences join multiple stages without clear punctuation. For example, the sentence beginning “Furthermore, liquid then ready for filter” moves through filtering, softening, spinning and weaving in one chain. Use clearer sentence boundaries and vary the links between stages; this would make the progression easier to follow and the references to materials more precise.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of process vocabulary, including “harvest,” “strips,” “liquid pulp,” “fibers,” “yarn” and “weaving,” which allows you to describe the main transformations. Some less common terms from the diagram, such as “amine oxide,” are also included. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “plantation of bamboos,” “forwards it for cut,” and “ready for making cloths.” Repetition of “step” and “make” also limits flexibility. Aim for more precise process language and natural collocations, such as “bamboo is planted,” “the strips are crushed,” and “the yarn is woven into fabric.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses linked with “where,” “then” and “after,” and the overall meaning is generally understandable. However, some errors in sentence structure, verb forms and agreement remain. For example, “is starts form plantation” has an incorrect verb construction, while “they plants bamboo” and “it convert into liquid pulp” show agreement problems. The sentence “Overall, there are nine steps to make bamboo fabric, is starts…” also joins clauses incorrectly. Use passive forms consistently for a process description—for example, “Bamboo is planted” and “the strips are crushed”—and check subject–verb agreement, articles and punctuation when combining stages.
