Student answer (Band 5.5)
In this diagram, we can see a process of fabric manufactured from bamboo. Overall, 9 main stages is this process. The first is that bamboo plants and the last is make this clothes, but the three main categories are signifcant for this process, such as growing and cutting the plants, filter and crushing and making the fabric clothes.
This method start is plants bamboo(spring), when plants ready for this process in spring. the second step is that former start to cutting and havesting(Autumn), after that, cut and convernt into strips shapes, then start to crushing strips (to make liquid pupl) and cut the extra leave and unused part of bamboo plants.
After the crushing, start to filter process(separate long fibres from liquid) and identify the important and long fibres. The six stages is that, soften fibres (add water and amine oxide), it really help full for convernt into the spin shape. the third last stages is that, making the yam, it called spin method. the second the stage is that, Weave(to make favbric) where spin convernt into the large weave shape. The last stage of this process to make the different fabric clothes such as T-shirts etc.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover the process from planting through to finished clothing, and several details match the diagram, including the seasonal planting and harvesting, the conversion of strips into pulp, and the addition of water and amine oxide to soften fibres. The opening also attempts an overview by identifying the nine stages and broad phases. However, the overview is unclear: “the three main categories” are not accurately or clearly defined, and the sequence of the middle stages is sometimes muddled. For example, the text says “cut the extra leave and unused part,” which is not shown, while the final clothing stage is reported accurately. To strengthen the response, give a concise, precise overview of the progression from growing and processing bamboo to producing yarn, fabric, and garments, and avoid adding unsupported steps.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response generally follows the process in sequence, using markers such as “the second step,” “After the crushing,” and “The last stage.” This gives the reader a basic sense of progression, and the stages are grouped into paragraphs. However, the organisation is not consistently clear: “the three main categories” is difficult to interpret, and “the third last stages” followed by “the second the stage” makes the final sequence hard to follow. Some links are mechanical or repetitive, while several sentences join multiple actions without clear relationships. Use one paragraph for the overview and separate the process into clearly ordered stages, with accurate references such as “next,” “after filtering,” and “finally.” This would make the progression easier to follow without relying on repeated ordinal labels.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant process vocabulary, including “harvesting,” “strips,” “liquid pulp,” “fibres,” “spin,” and “weave,” and some technical wording is taken accurately from the diagram. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable and sometimes make the description less clear: “pupl,” “yam,” and “favbric” obscure key terms, while “spin shape” and “large weave shape” are imprecise collocations. “Plants bamboo” and “fabric clothes” also show limited control of natural phrasing. Aim to use accurate process nouns and verbs consistently, such as “bamboo is planted,” “the fibres are spun into yarn,” and “the yarn is woven into fabric.” Proofreading technical terms would improve precision and make your vocabulary more effective for this task.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including clauses introduced by “when” and “after,” but control is uneven. Errors in verb forms and sentence construction appear in examples such as “Overall, 9 main stages is this process,” “This method start,” and “the last stage of this process to make.” Agreement and article use also need attention, as in “the six stages is that.” These problems sometimes make relationships between actions difficult to understand, particularly in the middle and final stages. Practise forming clear passive sentences suited to process descriptions—for example, “The strips are crushed to produce liquid pulp”—and check subject–verb agreement and complete sentence structure. More accurate control of these patterns would make your sequence clearer.
