Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Write at least 150 words.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
The diagram demonstrates the process of manufacturing fabric from bamboo.Overall, the process contains 9 steps including planting and harvesting of bamboo plants and then passes through stages to make fabrics.
The process starts with the planting of bamboo plants in spring and then it will harvest in autumn. After havesting these bamboo plants cut into strips through a machine and then crush strips to make liquid pulp. In the next step, there will be filter due to which long fibres will separate from liquid. To soften fibres, manufacturer add amine oxide and water and start spinning to make yam. Afterward, the yam is used in weave to make fabric. When fabric is prepare then manufacturer use it to make different garments and cloths like socks and shirts.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the process as fabric production and give a relevant overview, noting that it has nine steps and begins with planting and harvesting. The main sequence is mostly represented, including cutting, crushing, filtering, softening, spinning and weaving, and you correctly mention the final clothing products. However, some stages are compressed or unclear: for example, “start spinning” does not clearly distinguish softening the fibres from spinning them into yarn, and the overview could better summarise the transformation from bamboo to finished garments. The response is also below the required 150 words, so several stages receive only brief treatment. Add detail about the materials and outcomes at key stages while keeping the account factual.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The information follows the diagram’s sequence, and phrases such as “The process starts,” “In the next step,” and “Afterward” help the reader track the stages. The opening overview also gives the response a useful structure. However, the answer is presented as one continuous block, and several stages are joined into long sentences, making the progression less easy to follow. The transition from softening to spinning is especially compressed. Divide the response into a short introduction and overview followed by a clearly organised process description, and use linking phrases to mark the change from preparation to yarn and fabric production. This would make the overall arrangement clearer and reduce the mechanical feel of the sequencing.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a suitable range of process vocabulary, including “manufacturing,” “liquid pulp,” “fibres,” “spinning,” and “garments,” which communicates the general stages. Some word choices and spelling errors reduce precision, however: “yam” is used where “yarn” is intended, “havesting” is misspelled, and “cloths” is not the right form for clothing items. Phrases such as “there will be filter” and “used in weave” are also unnatural collocations. Aim for accurate process verbs and standard combinations, such as “the pulp is filtered” and “the yarn is woven into fabric.” This would make the vocabulary more precise while retaining the relevant technical terms already attempted.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a sequence linked with “and then” and a purpose clause, “to make liquid pulp.” However, errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction are frequent enough to limit clarity. For example, “it will harvest” should describe the bamboo being harvested, while “manufacturer add” needs a plural or an article and matching verb. “When fabric is prepare” also has an incorrect verb form, and the sentence beginning “After havesting these bamboo plants cut” lacks a clear passive construction. There is also missing spacing after full stops. Practise consistent present-simple passive forms for process descriptions, such as “the strips are crushed” and “the fibres are softened.”
