Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the general subject and include several accurate stages, including planting in spring, harvesting in autumn, crushing the strips into pulp, filtering, and softening the fibres with water and amine oxide. However, the overview is unclear and inaccurate: you say there are “sex steep” (six steps), although the diagram shows nine, and describe weaving as the final step, omitting the final stage in which the fabric becomes clothing. The body also does not clearly report the full sequence from yarn to fabric to finished items. To strengthen the response, give a concise overview of the complete process and accurately cover all nine stages, including the production of clothing at the end.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has an introduction, an attempted overview, and two body paragraphs, and it uses sequence markers such as “first,” “after that,” and “moreover.” These help the reader recognise that the information describes a process. However, the progression is not consistently clear: “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” suggest a contrast, although the stages are consecutive. Several steps are crowded into long sentences, and repeated wording such as “it help” makes the links mechanical. The final paragraph also jumps from spinning to weaving without clearly explaining the transition. Organise the stages in order, use paragraphing to group the growing and processing stages, and choose simple sequencing links that accurately show progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant process vocabulary, including “harvest,” “strips,” “liquid pulp,” “filter,” “fibres,” and “amine oxide,” which shows awareness of the diagram’s terminology. However, the range is limited and several repeated or inaccurate expressions make parts difficult to understand. Examples include “sex steep,” “plamt,” “crust strips,” and “yam”; these appear to be attempts at “six steps,” “plant,” “crush strips,” and “yarn.” Phrases such as “it help to make” are also repeated instead of using more precise process verbs. Build a small bank of accurate verbs and nouns for describing manufacturing, and check spelling and word forms before finishing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences, for example, “first steep is plant bamboo it help be a spring,” but these structures are often faulty and the relationships between clauses are unclear. Subject–verb agreement is a recurring issue: “The diagram illustrate” and “it help” need “illustrates” and “it helps.” There are also problems with articles and sentence construction, as in “the process of bamboo fabric is made,” while capitalisation after the comma in “Overall, The process” is inconsistent. Most sentences rely on similar simple patterns, with limited accurate control of more complex forms. Practise writing one clear sentence per stage, using a consistent present tense and checking agreement, articles, and punctuation.
