Student answer (Band 5.5)

The figure illustrates the manufacturing process of fabric from bamboo Overall from planting bamboo plants to the maufacturing of wearble items it consists 9 different parts and several months of time.

In Spring Farmer plant bamboo plants and than harvest it in Autumn. After harvesting it. it is then sent for cutting into strips. When cutting process is done than strips are crushed to make liquid pulp. At next stage there is a filter which separate long fibers from liquid When filteration process is done than next procedure is the softening of fibers by adding water and amine oxide in it

Later on spining took place to make yam of the soften fibers When Yam is made than next step is to weave which is last step to make fabric When fabric is ready than it is used to make several clothing item like shirts socks and many more things like that

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You cover the main stages in the correct order, from planting and autumn harvesting through processing the fibres, spinning yarn, weaving fabric and making clothing. You also include the seasonal details and explain the purpose of several stages, such as crushing strips into pulp and filtering out long fibres. However, the overview is not clearly separated or fully developed: “it consists 9 different parts” gives a count, but does not summarise the process as a whole. The description also says “several months of time,” which is not established by the diagram, and the final stage is better described as producing clothing items rather than simply making fabric. A clearer overview and closer attention to what the diagram actually shows would strengthen the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The stages are generally presented in a sensible sequence, and time markers such as “In Spring,” “After harvesting,” and “Later on” help the reader follow the process. However, the response is written as one continuous paragraph, so the overview and the detailed stages are not clearly distinguished. Several transitions are repetitive or awkward, including “When cutting process is done than” and “When Yam is made than next step.” Some sentences also run together without clear punctuation, particularly around the filtering and softening stages. Organise the response into a brief overview followed by logically grouped stages, and use a wider range of accurate linking expressions to make the progression smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant process vocabulary, including “harvest,” “strips,” “liquid pulp,” “filter,” “fibers,” “spinning,” and “weave,” which allows the reader to understand the main steps. There are also attempts at more specific wording, such as “amine oxide.” However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable: “maufacturing,” “wearble,” “spining,” and “yam” make parts of the description less clear, while “several clothing item” is imprecise. Some expressions are also unnatural, such as “several months of time” and “many more things like that.” Check spelling carefully and choose precise process terms; for example, distinguish yarn from yam and refer to the final products as clothing items or garments.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts to connect stages using time clauses, for example, “When cutting process is done” and “When Yam is made,” but these structures are often faulty. Errors in verb forms and agreement include “Farmer plant” and “filter which separate”; articles and sentence construction are also problematic in “After harvesting it. it is then sent.” Punctuation is inconsistent, with missing full stops between several stages and an incomplete sentence beginning “When fabric is ready.” Most sentences rely on simple patterns or repeated “when” clauses, and the errors sometimes make relationships between steps harder to follow. Practise accurate present-simple passive forms for processes, such as “the strips are crushed,” and separate each complete idea with correct punctuation.
