Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

The given processed pictures illustrate the formation of clothes from a plant name as bamboo.

Overall, the diagrams showed several step start from the cutting in a specfic season (autumn) by a man, then some instrumental process and after the making of different types of suits from the wool which is called as yarn.

The first stem is the growth of a plant namely bamboo which rise in spring season, when the tree is fully develop man cutts its stem and leaves and sent it into a cutter to make these stem into strips. Then the strips was crushed to make a liquid called as pulp. The long fibers were seperated from the pulp liquid through a process called as filteration.

Then some chemicals like water and amine oxide were added into the fiber to make it softer. When the fiber was softed then it was spin to make

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the process as bamboo being turned into clothing and include several accurate stages, such as planting in spring, harvesting in autumn, crushing the strips into pulp, filtering the fibres, and adding water and amine oxide. However, the overview is unclear and does not summarise the full sequence: it begins with “cutting” rather than explaining that the process runs from growing bamboo to finished fabric or clothing. The account also stops during the spinning stage, omitting the final weaving and clothing steps, and some details are inaccurate or unsupported, such as saying leaves are cut and describing the clothes as “suits.” The response is also four words below the required minimum. Cover every stage and give a concise, accurate overview.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic sequence, moving from growing and harvesting bamboo through processing, and “Then” helps signal the next stage. The paragraphing into an overview and a process description also gives the reader some structure. However, progression is weakened by the overview’s confusing phrase “several step start from the cutting,” and the final sentence breaks off at “then it was spin to make,” leaving the process unfinished. Some links between stages are compressed together, particularly the transition from cutting to crushing and filtering. Use clear stage-by-stage sentences and linking expressions such as “Next,” “After filtering,” and “Finally,” while ensuring the response reaches a complete ending.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant process vocabulary, including “strips,” “pulp,” “fibers,” “filteration,” and “amine oxide,” which helps communicate the main manufacturing stages. There are also attempts at more specific wording, such as “instrumental process.” However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural and sometimes make the meaning less clear: “formation of clothes,” “plant name as bamboo,” “suits,” and “wool” do not describe the diagram precisely. Spelling and word-form errors, including “specfic,” “seperated,” and “softed,” are noticeable. Aim for precise process terms and standard spelling; for example, describe the final products as clothing and the material as bamboo fibres rather than wool.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including a sequence linked with “when” and a clause beginning “which is called as yarn.” This shows some effort to vary sentence structure. However, errors are frequent, and some sentences are difficult to follow. Examples include “several step start,” “the strips was crushed,” and “it was spin,” where plural agreement or verb forms are incorrect. The opening sentence also has an unclear structure, while the final sentence is incomplete. Punctuation is inconsistent, with missing spaces after full stops and a run-on transition in “strips.Then.” Practise accurate past-tense passive forms, such as “the strips were crushed” and “the fibres were spun,” and check each sentence for a complete clause.
