Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Write at least 150 words.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The diagram illustrates the process of manufacturing fabric from bamboo.
Overall, it is clear that the bamboo fabric-making process consists of nine different stages, beginning with planting bamboo and ending with the making of clothes.
Initially, the bamboo plants are planted on prepared sites in the spring season. In the second stage, Bamboo clumps normally mature in autumn when they are harvested using a khife. After that, the bamboo clump is cut into different strips and crushed into strips for making liquid pulp. In the fifth stage, the liquid pulp is separated from the long fibres, and water and amine oxide are added to soften the fibres of the bamboo strips.
For the following stages, softened fibers are spun to make yarn, and this yarn is woven to make fabric which is lately use for cloathing. Finally, the clothes are made from those weaven fabrics which ican be sell on to markets.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You give a relevant account of the process, identify its nine stages, and provide a clear overview from planting to finished clothing. Most key steps are included, including harvesting, cutting, crushing, filtering, softening, spinning and weaving. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: the diagram shows bamboo being cut into strips and those strips crushed, rather than the clump being “cut into different strips and crushed into strips.” The final stage depicts clothing items, but the claims that the fabric is “lately use” for clothing and that clothes “can be sell on to markets” go beyond what is shown. To strengthen the report, describe the sequence precisely and avoid adding unsupported information about cultivation sites, maturity, or selling.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response is arranged in a sensible sequence, with an introduction, an overview and two paragraphs tracing the stages. Linking expressions such as “Initially,” “After that,” and “For the following stages” help the reader follow the process, and the overall progression is clear. This meets the lower-band expectations securely and shows some features of stronger cohesion. However, the transitions are somewhat formulaic, and the fifth-stage sentence combines filtering and softening in a way that makes the order less distinct. The final paragraph also repeats the idea of making clothes. Use clearer stage-by-stage links, such as “Once the fibres have been filtered,” and keep each sentence focused on one or two connected steps.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant process vocabulary, including “harvested,” “liquid pulp,” “fibres,” “spun,” and “woven,” which allows you to describe the main stages. There is some variation in how you refer to the material and its products. However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision: “khife,” “cloathing,” “weaven,” and “ican” are misspelled, while “lately use” and “sell on to markets” are awkward or inaccurate in context. “Bamboo clumps” and “bamboo strips” are also not always used precisely. Check spelling carefully and choose standard process collocations, such as “is used to make clothing” and “finished garments.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple and more developed sentence forms, including the overview construction “beginning with planting bamboo and ending with the making of clothes” and a sentence linking the filtering and softening stages. The process is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors remain. In “the bamboo clump is cut into different strips and crushed into strips,” the parallel structure makes it unclear what is being crushed. “The clothes are made from those weaven fabrics which ican be sell” contains faulty verb forms and an unclear relative clause; a clearer version would be “The fabric is then made into clothing.” There is also inconsistent capitalisation in “Bamboo.” Aim for accurate passive forms throughout, since they suit a manufacturing process, and proofread sentence structure and punctuation.
