Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the main stages, from planting and harvesting through processing the fibres to making fabric and clothing. The final products, including T-shirts and socks, are also reported accurately. However, the account is only partial: it does not clearly present an overview of the process as a whole, and some stages are confused or imprecise. For example, the diagram shows bamboo being harvested in autumn, then cut into strips; it does not say the harvested bamboo is cut out of the soil. The sequence of crushing, filtering and softening is mentioned, but the explanation is difficult to follow. The response is also five words below the required minimum. Add a clear overview and describe each stage accurately and fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response follows the general order of the process, using markers such as “In third diagram,” “Further more,” “In next step” and “At the end.” This gives the reader some sense of progression. However, the information is presented as one paragraph, and the links between stages are sometimes unclear or mechanical. For instance, “for continuing than crush strips are used” makes the transition from cutting to crushing difficult to understand, while the final sentence repeats earlier information rather than providing a distinct summary. Organise the response into a brief introduction and overview followed by a logically grouped description of the stages. Use clear sequencing language and ensure each reference points unambiguously to the relevant material or process.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant process vocabulary, including “strips,” “liquid pulp,” “fibers,” “yarn,” “fabric” and “T-shirts,” which helps communicate the topic. There is also an attempt to use more specific terms such as “harvest” and “formation.” However, the range and control are limited, with noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that sometimes make the meaning less clear. Examples include “daigram,” “Autuman,” “seperated” and “processd.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “Harvest is cutted out from the soil” and “Weave are formed.” Choose precise process verbs and check spelling; for example, say bamboo is “harvested,” strips are “crushed,” and fibres are “filtered” or “separated.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts to describe a sequence and includes some longer sentences, but sentence structures are limited and errors occur frequently. Verb forms and agreement are recurring problems: “Bamboo plant start its growth,” “Harvest is cutted,” and “Weave are formed” do not use accurate subject–verb forms or passive constructions. Articles and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “The below diagram illustrate” and the run-on sequence beginning “In third diagram.” These errors sometimes make the relationships between actions difficult to follow. Practise using the present simple passive consistently for process descriptions—for example, “The bamboo is cut into strips” and “The fibres are softened”—and separate each stage into a complete, correctly punctuated sentence.
