Student answer (Band 5.5)

The diagram illustrates how bamboo fabric is produces from plant bamboo.

Overall, the process consists of main nine stages, beginning with plant bamboo and culminating in fabric cloth. While harvesting is one of the major step for starting process. The remaining stages focus on cut into strips, add water and amine oxide and the last was a weave to make fabric.

To begin with, bamboos are harvested after which cut into strips. Following this, the crush strips are make into liquid pulp and filter is perform before soften fibres take place. After that, during a soften fibres making process water and amine oxide are added into cotton.

Next, spins are make yam. After that weave are maded by spin yam, it was second last process for bamboo fabric. Finally, weave was a use for making cloth, resulting in cloth are ready for sell. This process was continues by it's self.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the diagram as a process and give a broad start-to-finish account, including harvesting, processing the bamboo, spinning yarn and weaving. However, the overview is not fully accurate: planting in spring is the first stage, but you begin the detailed account with harvesting, and the process ends with clothing items rather than simply “fabric cloth.” Several stages are also confused or omitted. For example, the diagram shows crushing strips into liquid pulp, filtering out long fibres, then softening them with water and amine oxide; your account says the additive is put “into cotton” and does not clearly report the separation of fibres. To strengthen the response, describe the full sequence accurately and distinguish the final spinning, weaving and clothing stages.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic paragraph structure, with an introduction, an overview and a sequence of later stages. Connectors such as “To begin with,” “Following this,” “Next” and “Finally” help signal order. However, progression is weakened by the overview’s unclear list of stages and by transitions that do not match the diagram’s sequence: the detailed account starts at harvesting and later repeats weaving as both the penultimate and final process. Some references are also difficult to follow, as in “weave are maded by spin yam.” Organise the body in the diagram’s exact order, use one clear sentence for each group of stages, and avoid repeating steps in the conclusion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant process vocabulary, including “harvested,” “strips,” “liquid pulp,” “fibres,” “spin” and “weave,” so the reader can recognise the general subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms make the description unclear: “fabric is produces,” “plant bamboo,” “cotton” for the fibres, and “yam” for yarn. Phrases such as “cloth are ready for sell” and “This process was continues by it's self” are also unnatural or imprecise. Use the diagram’s exact terms consistently, and choose accurate process verbs and material names. This would make the account more precise without requiring unnecessarily advanced vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple sentences and longer sequences, including “Following this, the crush strips are make into liquid pulp and filter is perform before soften fibres take place.” However, complex constructions are often faulty, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence structure frequently make the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “the process consists of main nine stages,” “bamboos are harvested after which cut into strips,” and “Finally, weave was a use for making cloth.” Tense also shifts between present and past (“are added,” “was a use,” “was continues”). Practise consistent present-simple passive forms for process descriptions, such as “The strips are crushed” and “The fibres are softened,” and check that each clause has a clear subject and correctly formed verb.
