Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the general subject and mention several relevant stages, including planting in spring, harvesting in autumn, cutting, filtering, spinning and weaving. However, the account is incomplete and contains important sequence errors: the diagram shows the strips are crushed into liquid pulp before filtering, and the fibres are softened with water and amine oxide after filtering. Your description reverses these stages and says the fabric is softened. You also state that the process takes eight steps, although the diagram numbers nine, and the final clothing stage is only vaguely described. There is no clear overview of the full process. The response is also 33 words below the required minimum. To improve, give an accurate overview and report all nine stages in order, including the finished clothing items.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic chronological shape, beginning with planting and ending with the use of the fabric, and words such as “After” and “after that” help signal sequence. However, the progression becomes confusing when the order of crushing, filtering and softening is misreported. Most information is placed in one long paragraph, with little separation between the overview and process details. Repeated “than” and “than these” do not provide clear or accurate links, and the final sentence about “my things” feels disconnected from the manufacturing stages. Organise the response into a brief overview and a clearly sequenced description, using precise links such as “Next,” “Following this,” and “Finally.”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “harvesting,” “strips,” “liquid pulp,” “spinning” and “weave,” so the reader can recognise the general topic. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate: “formation” is less suitable than “production,” “soften the fabric” confuses fabric with fibres, and “amino oxide” does not match the diagram’s “amine oxide.” Spelling errors such as “elobrate” and “matherials” also reduce precision. The phrase “my things” is too informal and unclear for an academic process description. Build a more accurate process vocabulary and check spelling and collocations; for example, describe fibres being softened and yarn being woven into fabric.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt to connect stages in longer sentences, for example, “After harvesting … cut into strips,” but control is inconsistent and the range of sentence structures is limited. Errors in tense, agreement and articles occur throughout: “It take 8 steps,” “was harvest,” and “the each bamboo log” are not grammatically accurate. The sentence beginning “This soften fabric than put into filter” lacks a correctly formed verb structure, making the sequence difficult to follow. Capitalisation and punctuation are also uneven, including spaces before commas and repeated sentence openings with “Than.” Use consistent present simple passive forms for a process, such as “The bamboo is harvested” and “The strips are crushed,” and check each sentence for a complete subject and verb.
