Student answer (Band 5.5)

The diagram illustrates the process of manufacturing fabric from bamboo.

overall, The process of making fabric from bamboo consist nine stages, beginning with planting bamboo in spring season, and ending with the productions of different types of clothes. The main stages involve planting bamboo, harvest, cut into strips, crush strips, filter, softening fiber, spinning, and weaving.

The initial stage of the process is planting bamboo basically in spring season. In Autumn bamboo are harvested by farmers.

Those bamboo are cut into strips and after that crush them to make liquid pulp. Additionally, crush strip are filter and separated long fibers from liquid.

After the fibers are separated from the liquid we get long fibers. Then, add some water and amine oxide where soften fibers are achieve. Furthermore, spin the soften fiber to prepare yarn. Weave the prepared yarn to make fabric. with the fabric make new t-shirt, shock and others clothes.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the process as a sequence from planting bamboo to making clothing, and you include several key stages, such as harvesting, crushing, filtering, softening, spinning and weaving. The overview also recognises that there are nine stages. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate: the diagram shows the fibres being softened by adding water and amine oxide, but your description makes this step difficult to follow, and “crush strip are filter” blurs the separate crushing and filtering stages. The final products are shown as a T-shirt and socks, rather than “shock and others clothes.” To strengthen the response, describe each stage distinctly and give a clearer overview of the transformation from raw bamboo to finished garments.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction and overview are followed by stages in the process, with paragraph breaks helping to separate the early and later steps. The sequence is generally understandable, and phrases such as “After the fibers are separated” help connect one stage to the next. However, progression becomes less clear where several actions are compressed into “Those bamboo are cut into strips and after that crush them,” and “Additionally” does not express the relationship between crushing and filtering accurately. The overview also repeats the stages rather than grouping them into a clear summary of the process. Use consistent sequencing language and ensure each sentence moves cleanly from one numbered stage to the next.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant process vocabulary, including “harvested,” “liquid pulp,” “fibers,” “yarn” and “weave,” which allows the reader to follow the general subject. There is some repetition of basic terms such as “make” and “bamboo,” and several word-choice or form errors reduce precision: “productions of different types of clothes,” “crush strip,” and “soften fibers are achieve.” “Shock” also appears to be an inaccurate spelling of “socks.” Aim for more precise process collocations, such as “the strips are crushed” and “the fibres are softened,” and use the same spelling convention consistently for “fibres/fibers.” This would make the description more natural and exact.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple sentences and longer sequences, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, control of sentence structure and verb forms is uneven. For example, “the process … consist nine stages” lacks subject–verb agreement and an article or preposition, while “after that crush them” does not form a complete, well-controlled clause. The sentence “where soften fibers are achieve” also has faulty clause structure and verb formation. Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, as in “overall, The” and “fabric. with the fabric.” Build accuracy first with clear passive constructions suited to a process description—for example, “The strips are crushed to produce liquid pulp”—then combine stages using subordinate clauses only when their grammar is secure.
