Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the process as beginning with bamboo planting in spring and mention harvesting in autumn, then cover the main conversion stages through to fabric and a final product. However, the overview is unclear: “the stages end with desired outcome” does not specify that the diagram ends with clothing, and the final stage is not described precisely. Some steps are also compressed or inaccurately expressed, particularly filtering and softening, which are separate stages: the fibres are filtered from the liquid, then softened with water and amine oxide. The response is 136 words, below the required 150, so it is under-length. To strengthen the report, give a clear overview and describe each stage accurately, including the finished clothing items.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has an identifiable introduction followed by an overview and two paragraphs describing the process, and it generally follows the diagram from planting towards the finished product. This gives the reader some overall structure. However, progression is weakened by unclear or inaccurate links such as “Following by,” “By continuing,” and “In constant.” The sequence of filtering and softening is difficult to follow because the stages are joined in one sentence, while “However” does not express a meaningful contrast at the end. Paragraphing could also be used more purposefully to separate the overview from a clear chronological account. Use simple, accurate transitions such as “Next,” “After this,” and “Finally,” and ensure each sentence advances one stage.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant process vocabulary, including “harvesting,” “liquid pulp,” “fibres,” “spinning,” and “weave,” which helps communicate the general subject. There are also attempts at more specific wording, such as “amine oxide.” However, spelling and word-choice problems are noticeable: “begains,” “Autum,” “consiquently,” “filtarization,” and “formost” reduce accuracy. Several phrases are unnatural or imprecise, including “very initial stage,” “desired outcome,” and “weave the yarn to make fabric from needle.” Choose standard process terms and collocations, for example “the process begins,” “filter the fibres,” and “weave the yarn into fabric.” More precise vocabulary would make the stages easier to understand.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the opening sentence, “The diagram illustrates the process of how fabric is manufactured from bamboo,” communicates the topic clearly. However, control is inconsistent, and several sentences contain faulty structures that make relationships between stages unclear. For example, “Following by, harvesting of bamboo in the Autum” is a fragment, while “First and formost stage which is farming bamboo plants” lacks a complete main clause. The sentence beginning “Along with that separate…” also has unclear clause structure, and “harvesting of bamboo done” is missing an auxiliary verb. Use complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs, such as “Bamboo is harvested in autumn,” and check articles, verb forms, and punctuation.
