Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Write at least 150 words.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
The given diagram represents how fabric is manufactured from bamboo. It required different procedures for this formation in different seasons.
Overall,we have required a bamboo plant to grow it in the season of spring and then harvest it in the season of autumn and then we can cut it into strips. The next procedure which is required for this we can separate the long fibers from liquid by the process of filtering it.
Moreover, the given diagram explains the formation of fabric from the bamboo plant. This plant can be harvested in the season of autumn and the thing is to cut it into different strips. After it we can crush these strips for the formation of liquid pulp. However, the next thing which is required is the process of filtering these long fibers from the liquid. After that we can soften these fibers and add water and amine oxide in it.At the third last step,we can make a ball to make yarn and the next step is to make weave to make fabric from it.After following all this procedure we can obtained the fabric from the bamboo plant.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the process as bamboo being turned into fabric and include several key stages, including planting in spring, harvesting in autumn, crushing the strips, filtering, softening, spinning and weaving. However, the overview is not sufficiently clear or complete: it repeats the planting and harvesting information rather than summarising the process from cultivation through to finished clothing. The final stage, where the fabric is made into clothing items, is omitted, and the sequence is not always reported precisely. For example, “make a ball to make yarn” does not clearly explain that fibres are spun into yarn. To strengthen the response, give a concise overview of the full sequence and describe each stage accurately, including the end products shown.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has some organisation: it begins with an introduction, uses an overview-like paragraph, and then describes several stages in a further paragraph. The process is generally presented in sequence, and linking expressions such as “After that” and “At the third last step” help signal progression. However, the overview repeats details that are then repeated again in the body, and the progression is weakened by vague or awkward links such as “the next thing which is required” and “After following all this procedure.” The paragraphing also does not clearly separate a concise overview from a systematic account of the stages. Organise the response into a clear introduction, overview, and chronological description, using precise references to connect each stage.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant process vocabulary, including “harvest,” “strips,” “liquid pulp,” “filtering,” “fibers,” “yarn” and “fabric,” so the reader can follow the general subject. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repetitive or imprecise, such as “the next procedure which is required” and “make a ball to make yarn.” Some word combinations are unnatural, including “make weave” and “obtained the fabric.” Use more precise process verbs and natural collocations—for example, say that fibres are spun into yarn and yarn is woven into fabric. Also check spelling consistency for “fibres” or “fibers,” and avoid repeating “required” and “make” when a more specific verb is available.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some longer sentences and use sequencing clauses, for example, “After it we can crush these strips for the formation of liquid pulp.” However, the range is limited, and errors recur in sentence construction, verb forms, articles and punctuation. Examples include “It required different procedures” and “we can obtained,” where the verb forms are incorrect, as well as “we have required a bamboo plant,” which makes the meaning difficult to follow. Several sentences are joined into long strings with limited punctuation, and spaces are missing after full stops and commas, as in “bamboo. It” and “Overall,we.” Practise writing shorter, controlled sentences with consistent present simple forms for process descriptions, and check subject–verb patterns, articles and punctuation before finishing.
