Student answer (Band 5.5)

The process gives information about fabric production from bamboo.

Overall, the processing have nine steps start withs bamboo planting in spring and ends with differents clothes collection. Filtering is done to separate long fiber from liquid then softening of fiber adding water and amine oxide.

Initally, planting of bamboo is done in spring which will be ready to harvest in autumn. strips is cut and crush to make liquid pulp. Afterthat, filtering is done to separate the long fiber from liquid.

Adding water and amine oxide to soften the fibers.

However, Spin process start after softening the fabrics to make yarn. To make fabric yarn are weave and as a last steps the fabrics are used to make differents varieties of clothes like shoes, shirts.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the process as having nine stages and give a relevant overview, from planting in spring to finished clothing. You also report several central operations, including harvesting in autumn, crushing, filtering, softening, spinning and weaving. However, the account is only partial: the final stage is described as making clothes, but the diagram shows clothing items as the output, and “shoes” are not shown. Some steps are compressed or unclear, particularly the transition from cutting to crushing and the production of yarn and fabric. The response is also 25 words below the required minimum, which limits how fully you can describe the sequence. Add detail about each stage and clarify the final products to make the summary more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic paragraph structure, with an introduction, an overview and two paragraphs describing stages. The sequence is generally understandable, and words such as “Overall,” “Initially” and “However” signal movement through the process. However, progression is not consistently clear: “strips is cut and crush” combines two stages, while “Adding water and amine oxide to soften the fibers” is left as a fragment rather than connected to the preceding account. “However” does not express a contrast between spinning and the earlier stages, so it is not an effective link here. Use clear chronological links such as “Next” and “Following this,” and connect each stage in complete sentences to create a smoother progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant process vocabulary, including “harvest,” “filtering,” “liquid pulp,” “fibers,” “yarn” and “weave,” which helps communicate the main stages. There is some useful specificity in naming the water and amine oxide used to soften the fibres. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate: “clothes collection” does not clearly describe the finished clothing, “fabrics” is used where “fibres” or “yarn” is intended, and “differents varieties” is not natural English. Spelling errors such as “Initally” and “Afterthat” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise process terms and check spelling and collocations; for example, describe the final output as “finished garments.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer clauses, including “which will be ready to harvest in autumn,” and the overall meaning can usually be followed. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in sentence construction and agreement. Examples include “the processing have nine steps,” “strips is cut and crush,” and “yarn are weave”; these need correct subject–verb agreement and passive forms. The sentence “Adding water and amine oxide to soften the fibers” is incomplete, and “the fabrics are used to make” does not clearly express the intended final stage. Practise accurate passive structures for processes, such as “The strips are crushed” and “The yarn is woven,” and vary sentence patterns while checking that each sentence has a complete verb.
