Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays international fashion trends change the way people wear dress. This essay explains how global fashion has significantly impact on the people;s lives. This is a negative development because it creates social differentiation among people and overspending on expensive clothing is another phenomenon.

Men and women who follow fashion and trends are strongly associated with high society which has an overwhelming impact on the middle and low class. This is because these people can be instantly judged by the society by what they are wearing and it leads to decrease their confidence and morale and it results in social disintegration which has terrible consequences. Thus, the fashion industry should design affordable dresses which can mitigate the issue.

Overspending on expensive items rao rich people can allocate those extra funds to aid the community.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You state a clear negative position and identify two relevant concerns: social pressure linked to clothing and spending on expensive items. However, the response addresses the question only partially. The first question—how global fashion became so influential—is not explained; the essay mainly describes possible effects. The point about confidence and social division is relevant, but the causal link needs clearer explanation and a specific example. The final sentence about rich people using money to aid the community is incomplete and does not explain the overspending point. The response is also 117 words below the required minimum, leaving too little space to develop both parts. Explain the role of social media, advertising, or international brands, then support each view with examples and a complete conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an introduction gives your position, a body paragraph discusses social effects, and a final paragraph begins a point about spending. Linking expressions such as “This is because” and “Thus” show an effort to connect ideas. However, there is no clear overall progression between the two body points, and the final paragraph is only a fragment of an argument, so the essay ends abruptly without a conclusion. Some connections are also difficult to follow, particularly the move from being judged by clothing to “social disintegration.” Use separate, fully developed paragraphs for the causes of fashion’s influence and its effects, and add a concluding sentence that restates your position. Make each linking phrase express a clear relationship between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt some topic-related vocabulary, including “global fashion trends,” “social differentiation,” “social disintegration,” and “mitigate.” These choices show an effort to discuss broader social consequences rather than relying only on basic clothing terms. However, several phrases are unnatural or imprecise, which makes parts of the argument harder to understand: “people wear dress,” “high society,” and “overspending on expensive items rao rich people.” There is also a spelling or typing error in “rao,” and “fashion and trends” is repetitive. Aim for accurate collocations and precise wording, such as describing people as being judged by their appearance or feeling pressure to buy fashionable clothes. A wider range of relevant terms would also help explain how brands, advertising, and social media spread trends.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use both simple statements and attempts at complex sentences, for example, “This is because these people can be instantly judged…” and the clause beginning “which has an overwhelming impact.” This shows some ability to connect ideas through subordinate clauses. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make several sentences awkward or unclear. In the opening, “fashion trends change the way people wear dress” has an incorrect sentence pattern; “has significantly impact” uses the wrong verb form; and “it leads to decrease their confidence” is not grammatically complete. The final sentence is also incomplete, with “Overspending on expensive items rao rich people…” lacking a clear grammatical structure. Practise accurate verb forms, articles, and complete sentence construction, then proofread punctuation and sentence boundaries.
