Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, individuals' choice for clothes is significantly impacted by global dressing sense. The social media has served as a catalyst for people in selecting the fashion, many people opt the apparel which gets viral. I believe, this is a negative development as choosing global fashion is a threat to traditional wear. The following first paragraph will illustrate how the global fashion has a strong influence on people`s lives, the second will explain my stance, followed my a conclusion.

The use of social media has added to the choice of clothing. Tech platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Youtube have eliminated the border barriers because many people now get influneced by their favourite influencers easily. People try to look and act like their model actor. Hollowean is the case in point, it is restricted in Saudi Arabia to celebrate it, yet it is getting popularity continuously, and many youngesters cherish it as they watch it online. Rising technology, specifically social media, has compeled society to persue international trends.

This is disadvantageous. The expansion in global fashion has imposed a threat to traditional wear in many states of the world. For example, the cultural dress code in Pakistan is Shalwar Kameez. However, one will barely find anyone wearing this dress in Pakistan. People prefer western attires like shirt and pant. This is a substantial reason that this development is considered as a negative thing.

In conclusion, in today's world, people often wear dresses which are globally acknowledged. Social media is a key actor which motivates individuals to choose certain fashion. This is not considered a positive thing as it is dangerous for the national attires. Thus, it should not be encouraged to promote.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both parts of the prompt: social media is identified as a driver of global fashion, and you clearly judge its effects to be negative because traditional clothing may be displaced. The examples of Halloween in Saudi Arabia and Shalwar Kameez in Pakistan make the discussion relevant. However, the explanation of how online exposure changes everyday clothing choices is brief, and the claim that “one will barely find anyone” wearing traditional dress is very broad and not supported with evidence. The Halloween example also illustrates the spread of a celebration more directly than changes in dress. Develop the causal explanation and qualify or substantiate general claims to make the ideas more fully supported.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs on influence and your view, and a conclusion. The progression from social media to cultural effects is easy to follow, and linking phrases such as “For example” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some control of progression. However, the roadmap sentence in the introduction (“The following first paragraph will illustrate…”) is mechanical and unnecessary, while “This is a substantial reason” does not clearly specify which point it refers to. The conclusion largely repeats earlier claims rather than drawing them together. Use more natural transitions and clearer referencing between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “global fashion,” “influencers,” “traditional wear,” “cultural dress code,” and “international trends.” These choices make the subject clear, and attempts at more formal phrasing such as “has served as a catalyst” show ambition. Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, however: “choice for clothes,” “opt the apparel,” “model actor,” and “dangerous for the national attires” do not express the intended ideas naturally. There are also spelling errors, including “influneced,” “Hollowean,” and “compeled.” Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations in context; this will make your vocabulary more precise without requiring more complicated words.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “the apparel which gets viral” and a concessive structure in “yet it is getting popularity continuously.” Most sentences remain understandable, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy. For example, “many people opt the apparel” is missing a required preposition, and “many youngesters cherish it” has an incorrect plural form and unclear reference. The opening sentence also has an awkward possessive construction, while “followed my a conclusion” contains a punctuation or typing error that disrupts the sentence. Practise accurate verb patterns, articles, and clause construction, then proofread each sentence for agreement and punctuation. Greater control of these structures would strengthen the range you are already attempting.
