Student answer (Band 6.0)
Universal fashion trends have influenced the way many people dress today. I believe that this trend negatively impacted many cultures because of the diversity loss it has on so many countries. Also many poor classes struggle to afford keeping up with these changes. Nowadays, many people looks alike regarding the clothes they wear, which results in the loss of cultural heritage and style that older generations thrived to keep alive. Younger generations now dress similar to one another because they think that these trends mean that they are sartorially conscious. It is important to represent our cultures with true identity and express our individuality. For instance, many teenagers in Egypt are now interested in buying westernized clothing rather than the cultural attire that past generations were proud to wear. Furthermore, a major drawback of this trend is the effect it had on poor classes, because many children want to dress as their peers in class, which puts alot of stress on parents to work overtime to be able to afford such clothes that change continuously and rapidly. For parents to keep up with these unaffordable trends, it led to the idea of exchanging clothes with friends to benefit from the variety they get, all for the sake of following a certain patttern. In conclusion, I believe that while following fashion trends allow people to fit more in society and feel more comfortable; however, it means that certain traditions will disapear in the future and parents will be more stressed to provide for their young ones through working longer hours.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you view global fashion as negative because it can weaken cultural identity and place financial pressure on families. The examples about teenagers in Egypt and parents working overtime are relevant and help explain these concerns. However, the task asks both how global fashion became so influential and whether this is positive or negative. The response develops the negative effects, but gives little explanation of the causes of fashion’s influence, such as social media, advertising, or international brands. The positive side is only briefly acknowledged in the conclusion, and several claims would benefit from fuller explanation. Addressing the causes directly and extending each example would make the response more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a generally understandable progression: it introduces a negative position, discusses cultural effects, adds financial pressure, and concludes by restating the view. Linking expressions such as “For instance,” “Furthermore,” and “In conclusion” help signal these stages. However, the ideas are presented in one continuous paragraph, so the two main arguments are not clearly separated. Some connections are also awkward or unclear: “For parents to keep up with these unaffordable trends, it led to the idea…” does not clearly show who exchanges clothes or how this follows from the previous point. Use separate body paragraphs and clearer references between cause, example, and consequence to make the organisation easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a reasonable range of topic-related vocabulary, including “cultural heritage,” “individuality,” “sartorially conscious,” and “cultural attire.” These choices show an effort to express ideas beyond basic fashion vocabulary, and the meaning is generally clear. Some expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, however, such as “diversity loss,” “poor classes,” and “following a certain patttern.” There are also spelling errors in “alot” and “disapear,” and “westernized clothing” is less precise than the intended contrast may require. Aim for natural collocations and check spelling carefully; more precise wording would help you communicate the cultural and economic arguments with greater control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses with “because,” “which,” and “while,” and most of your meaning remains clear. Some grammatical errors are noticeable but do not usually prevent understanding. For example, “many people looks alike” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “this trend negatively impacted” shifts tense awkwardly in a general discussion. The final sentence also combines “while” and “however” in a way that makes the contrast structure faulty. Review agreement, consistent present-tense forms for general claims, and punctuation in longer sentences. Breaking up a few extended sentences would also help you control the grammar more reliably.
