Student answer (Band 6.0)

Fashion plays a significant role in making societies. It is argued that many people follow the trendy fashion nowadays. Furthermore, it has also impacted the people's lives. According to my perspective i am partially agreed on the both sides of development due to many reasons.

On the one side, global fashion bring sense of dressing to many people. Many people can follow these trends to educate themselves fashion sense and appropriate dress codes for meetings, celebrations and events. For example, In old times, the fashion sense was not so common in many people. People used to dress traditional dresses on meetings that were not generally appropriate for the meeting which makes them hesitant and shy. For instance, people wear a suitable dressing, it looks more confident and define their personalities. Therefore, suitable dressing plays an important role in personality making.

On the other side, global fashion has also imposed negatively effects on people's lives. Many people follow the unnecessary trends and get out of budget just by buying different types of trendy stuff. Generally, youth is strongly influenced by global trendy fashion. For instance, nowadays they are engaged in copying K-Pop and Gothic culture. They just end up buying various things and waste money on them. At the end, they are out of budget and burdenise their parents.

To put it in a nutshell, i concur with the notion that people do not need to follow each and every trend. They need to develop fashion sense and choose best for them rather then spending a lot of money on unnecessary trends that are not useful for them in any way.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both questions by discussing benefits and drawbacks, and your conclusion gives a clear recommendation: people should choose trends selectively rather than follow every one. The examples about dressing appropriately for meetings and young people copying K-pop or Gothic styles are relevant. However, the first question—how global fashion became so influential—is not directly explained. The essay mainly describes effects of fashion, rather than causes such as social media, celebrities, advertising, or international brands. Some points are also under-developed: the meeting example does not clearly show how global trends specifically help, and the claim that young people burden their parents would benefit from a more precise explanation. Develop the causes and support each main point more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Phrases such as “On the one side,” “On the other side,” and “To put it in a nutshell” make the direction of the argument easy to follow, and the examples generally appear beside the points they support. This coherent arrangement meets the expected level, while the paragraph links are somewhat formulaic and the progression within paragraphs could be clearer. For example, the first body paragraph moves from fashion sense to historical dress and then confidence without fully explaining the connections. The introduction also promises a partly balanced position, but the conclusion focuses mainly on avoiding excessive spending. Use more precise links between claims and examples, and make the position consistent throughout.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “trendy fashion,” “dress codes,” “personality,” “out of budget,” and “K-Pop and Gothic culture.” These choices make the subject clear, and some phrases show an attempt to discuss fashion and its social effects. However, several word choices and collocations are noticeably inaccurate or unnatural, such as “fashion plays a significant role in making societies,” “educate themselves fashion sense,” and “imposed negatively effects.” “Burdenise” is also not an appropriate English word in this context. These errors sometimes make the reader pause to interpret your meaning. Aim for more natural combinations, such as “shape society,” “develop a sense of style,” and “have negative effects,” and check word forms and spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including examples introduced with “For example” and a concluding sentence with a contrast between choosing trends and spending money. The main ideas are usually understandable, but errors in sentence structure and basic grammar recur. For instance, “global fashion bring” needs subject–verb agreement, while “i am partially agreed on the both sides” has an incorrect verb form and article use. In “For instance, people wear a suitable dressing, it looks more confident,” two clauses are joined incorrectly, and the pronoun reference is unclear. Capitalisation and punctuation also need attention, as in lowercase “i” and missing spaces after “Therefore,”. Practise accurate complex sentences and proofread agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries.
