Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for the influence of global fashion and expressing a clear positive stance. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the mention of social media influencers is relevant but lacks depth, and the argument regarding cultural exchange is brief. Furthermore, the response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the ability to fully develop arguments. The conclusion is also abrupt and incomplete, failing to provide a comprehensive summary of the points discussed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. There is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'In addition', 'Furthermore', and 'To conclude'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as the transition into the second paragraph. The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the lack of a fully developed conclusion and the brevity of the paragraphs make the overall flow feel disjointed. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the connection between sentences could be more fluid.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for a higher band. There are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'majorities of the individuals outfits are admire' (should be 'the majority of individuals' outfits are admired') and 'build up her carrier' (career). The student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'social media influencers' and 'international clothing brands', but the overall lexical control is limited. Spelling errors, such as 'infuence' and 'free' (instead of 'freely'), also detract from the quality of the writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there is a high frequency of grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('global fashion create', 'it help individual'), incorrect word forms ('express themselves more free'), and punctuation errors. While the meaning is generally clear despite these mistakes, the errors are frequent enough to cause some distraction. The student needs to focus on basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with pluralisation, verb tenses, and adverb usage, before attempting more complex structures.
