Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 188 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, as the essay ends abruptly mid-sentence. While the student addresses both parts of the prompt—explaining the influence of global fashion and providing an opinion—the lack of completion means the argument is not fully developed. The position is clear, but the supporting points regarding the negative aspects of fashion are cut off before they can be fully explored. To improve, the student must ensure they provide a full, balanced argument with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay shows a basic attempt at logical organization, using transition signals like 'On one hand' to introduce points. However, the abrupt ending severely disrupts the overall coherence of the piece. Paragraphing is present, but the development within the paragraphs is incomplete. Referencing is generally clear, but the mechanical nature of the linking words limits the flow. To reach a higher band, the student needs to ensure that ideas are fully connected and that the essay structure is complete, allowing for a logical progression of thought from the introduction to the final conclusion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several spelling errors, such as 'accerelating', 'infos', 'influened', 'fahsion', and 'acessible'. While the student uses some relevant topic-specific vocabulary like 'luxury fashion companies' and 'influencer', the frequent spelling mistakes and occasional word-choice inaccuracies (e.g., 'infos' instead of 'information') hinder the overall quality. To improve, the student should focus on accurate spelling and attempt to incorporate more sophisticated collocations and academic vocabulary to express their ideas with greater precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The student uses a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Examples include 'Peoples are easily influened' (subject-verb agreement and spelling), 'global fashion has been greatly influenced the way' (incorrect passive voice), and 'its easily attract' (missing subject/verb agreement). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevents a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and verb tense consistency would be highly beneficial.
