Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for the influence of global fashion and expressing a position. However, the development of ideas is limited and at times unclear. For instance, the argument regarding the 'negative impact' on the opposite gender is vague and lacks sufficient explanation or logical connection to the topic of global fashion. Similarly, the example regarding Japan is somewhat disconnected from the main argument about global trends. To improve, you should focus on providing more detailed, logical explanations for your points and ensuring that your examples directly support your stated position.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression of ideas is often disjointed. While some cohesive devices are used (e.g., 'On the one hand', 'In conclusion'), they are sometimes used incorrectly or do not effectively link the sentences. The transition between the discussion of fashion trends and the example of Japanese clothing is abrupt, making it difficult for the reader to follow your line of reasoning. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, central topic sentence would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary range is limited and often repetitive. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'public outfits have become more impact' instead of 'impacted' or 'influenced', and 'manufacturing the clothes very embarassing'. These errors occasionally impede the clarity of your message. To reach a higher band, you should work on using a wider variety of vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'consumerism', 'cultural homogenisation', or 'aesthetic', and focus on using words in their correct grammatical form and context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement, sentence structure, and punctuation. For example, 'the individual are taking this granted' should be 'individuals are taking this for granted'. Many sentences are fragmented or lack proper structure, which makes the text difficult to read. While you attempt some complex ideas, the lack of control over basic grammar limits the effectiveness of your communication. Focusing on sentence construction, ensuring subjects and verbs agree, and proofreading for basic errors will help improve your score in this area.
