Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, as it is only 100 words long. Consequently, the development of ideas is severely limited. While the essay attempts to address the prompt by mentioning the influence of global fashion and providing a brief opinion on its advantages, the ideas are not extended or supported with sufficient detail. The response lacks a proper introduction, a clear conclusion, and a balanced discussion of both sides of the argument. To improve, you must expand your points with specific examples and ensure you address all parts of the prompt in a structured manner.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay lacks a clear structure. There is no introduction or conclusion, and the body paragraph is underdeveloped. Cohesive devices are largely absent, making the flow of ideas disjointed. For example, the transition between the mention of online shopping and the benefit of cultural learning is abrupt. To improve, you should use clear paragraphing to separate your introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Additionally, incorporate linking words such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in contrast' to guide the reader through your arguments more effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive. Phrases like 'great change' and 'major advantage' are generic and lack precision. There are also issues with word choice, such as 'aspect how people dress' instead of 'aspect of how people dress'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas about global trends. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more academic collocations and precise terminology related to the topic, such as 'cultural homogenization', 'consumer behavior', or 'globalized retail'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'fashion helps to people to learn' (incorrect verb pattern) and 'people changes clothing style' (subject-verb agreement error). Sentence structures are mostly simple, with very few attempts at complex sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing capital letters at the start of sentences and a lack of proper sentence boundaries. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and sentence structure before attempting more complex grammatical forms.
