Student answer (Band 6.5)

Universal fashion style is currently affecting how most individual dress in the present generation. However, this has a good impact in the current development, and this is due to the fact that it has a firm influence on people's life.

Firstly, global fashion has become a strong influence in the life of individuals by creating a career pathway for them, as well as helping people to have international recognition. Most young adults in our society now have a strong resilience for fashion trends which therefore help them to venture into such profession as a full-time job. In addition, these youngsters are now becoming more visible around the world because of their passion for clothes and creative styles. For instance, research in African last year, display about 75% statistics of the numerous growth most countries derive globally due the fashion trends influence.

Secondly, I strongly believe that this is a positive development. This is because, lots of job opportunities have been generated from this trend. Furthermore, youths are now more productive in recent time unlike before when they are jobless and they tend to involve in bad situations which have negative impact in our society. Although this has a negative side as well, but its advantages outweigh the disadvantages. For example, most people are becoming keen to fashion and their passion for other things gradually decline.

To summarize, several ways of which people dress recently, are determined by fashion trends around the globe. However, this plays a positive role in our nations.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the influence of global fashion and whether it is a positive or negative development. However, the development of ideas is limited. The explanation regarding 'career pathways' is somewhat vague, and the example provided ('research in African last year') lacks clarity and specific relevance to the argument. While a position is clear, the supporting arguments are under-developed and rely on generalisations. To improve, you should provide more concrete examples and explain the 'how' and 'why' behind your points more thoroughly to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'In addition', and 'To summarize' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally imprecise, such as in the sentence 'this is due to the fact that it has a firm influence on people's life', where the referent for 'this' is unclear. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'fashion trends', 'career pathway', and 'international recognition'. However, there are instances of awkward word choice and collocation, such as 'strong resilience for fashion trends' (resilience is not the correct term here) and 'display about 75% statistics'. The range is somewhat limited, and you rely on basic phrasing to express your ideas. To achieve a higher score, focus on using more precise collocations and a wider range of academic vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'most individual dress' (should be 'individuals dress'), 'research in African' (should be 'Africa'), and 'due the fashion trends' (missing 'to'). Additionally, there are issues with subject-verb agreement and article usage. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and preposition usage would significantly improve your accuracy.
