Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to address the prompt effectively. It uses placeholders such as 'opposing view', 'reason', and 'key reason' rather than engaging with the topic of global fashion trends. Because the essay is essentially a template with missing content, it does not develop any ideas or provide relevant examples. Furthermore, the response is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement, which severely limits the ability to demonstrate task fulfillment. To improve, you must replace these placeholders with specific arguments, real-world examples, and a clear, sustained position on how and why global fashion influences society.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
While the essay attempts to use standard paragraphing and some cohesive markers like 'Therefore' and 'In conclusion', the lack of actual content makes the logical progression impossible to follow. The sentences are disconnected because they rely on generic phrases that do not link to any specific ideas. The referencing is unclear because the 'viewpoint' being discussed is never defined. To achieve a higher score, you must ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that ideas are linked logically using a variety of cohesive devices, rather than relying on structural templates.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is extremely limited and repetitive. The reliance on placeholders like 'key reason' and 'opposing view' prevents the demonstration of a range of vocabulary. There is no attempt to use topic-specific terminology related to fashion, culture, or globalization. To improve, you need to expand your vocabulary to include synonyms and academic collocations. You should focus on using precise language to describe the influence of fashion, such as 'cultural homogenization', 'consumer behavior', or 'socio-economic impact', rather than generic fillers.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The grammatical range is very limited, consisting mostly of simple, repetitive sentence structures. There are frequent errors in punctuation, such as missing spaces after commas (e.g., 'education ,influencing') and incorrect capitalization. Some sentences are grammatically incomplete or nonsensical, such as 'I firmly believe that your opinion.' The lack of complex sentence structures makes it difficult to assess your control over more advanced grammar. To improve, focus on writing complete, grammatically correct sentences and practice using a variety of complex structures, such as relative clauses and conditional sentences.
