Student answer (Band 6.5)
In this modern era, many individuals are motivated to upgrade their dressing sense by the influence of various social media apps like Instagram and TikTok. This is indeed the negative development in my opinion this is the negative development and the reasons for the same are discussed in the ensuing paragraphs.
First and foremost, fast fashion indicates nature of people in which they will buy many clothes regularly in short interval of time to get updated with the latest trends. This will result in loss of resources and land pollution as they won't reuse their clothes after two or three times. Moreover, if above scene happens it will result in worker exploitation in industries as they will exploit it workers to speed up the manufacturing of the clothes due to excessive demand in market. This will affect the mental health of the worker. To cite an example, According to New York Times, there are many local industries in China which exploits its workers ahead of festive season to get the better revenue.
However, it can also make an individual as an impulsive buyer. Due to this scenario, people will start to spend more money then they had initially they had actually thought. This overspending may fluctuate the other budget of living expenses. Additionally, in this fast fashion as there will be introduction of new western clothing the people will start replace it with traditional clothes and in near future they will forget them and there might be possibility that future generations might not be able to see and use them. For instance, a survey was conducted in Mumbai which resulted that around 80% of young generations had starting adopting the western clothing and they prefer them against conventional clothing.
To sum up my opinion, there are some serious implications of fashion trends on young generation like overspending, loss of cultural and traditional clothes, exploitation of workers and loss of resources and doing pollution

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the influence of global fashion and the evaluation of whether this is a positive or negative development. The position is clear from the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the environmental and ethical points are relevant, the argument regarding 'impulsive buying' and the loss of traditional clothing could be more deeply explored with more nuanced reasoning. The conclusion is a bit abrupt and lacks a summary of the main arguments, which limits the overall impact of the response. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully explained with a clear link back to the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'First and foremost', 'Moreover', and 'However', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical. There are instances where the flow is slightly disrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'if above scene happens'. Referencing is generally clear, but the connection between sentences could be smoother to improve the overall progression of ideas. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different arguments, which helps the reader follow the writer's line of reasoning.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'fast fashion', 'worker exploitation', and 'impulsive buyer'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'doing pollution' instead of 'causing pollution' and 'fluctuate the other budget' which is unclear. The range is sufficient to communicate the message, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. Expanding the range of synonyms and collocations would significantly improve the quality of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the' vs 'a'), subject-verb agreement ('industries... which exploits'), and tense consistency ('had starting adopting'). Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'This is indeed the negative development in my opinion this is the negative development'. These errors do not usually impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would be beneficial.
