Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 198 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, as the arguments regarding the influence of social media and the positive/negative nature of the trend remain underdeveloped. While you address both parts of the prompt, the lack of depth and the incomplete final sentence prevent a full exploration of the topic. To improve, ensure you provide more detailed explanations and concrete examples for each point raised, and always complete your sentences to ensure your position is fully articulated.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow is hindered by the brevity of the content and some mechanical use of cohesive devices. Transitions like 'First of all' and 'In addition' are used, but the connection between sentences is sometimes weak due to grammatical errors. The final paragraph is incomplete, which disrupts the overall coherence of the argument. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence followed by supporting details that flow logically into one another.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'clothes', 'people', and 'buy'. There are also issues with word forms and collocations, such as 'them daily routine life video' instead of 'their daily routines' and 'they were do not shopping' instead of 'they do not shop'. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to fashion and global trends, and pay closer attention to word forms and standard collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

There is a limited range of grammatical structures, and the text contains frequent errors that occasionally impede communication. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('designer are instant share'), incorrect verb tenses, and missing articles. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences and missing capital letters at the start of sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Practising complex sentence structures, such as using relative clauses or conditional sentences, will also help improve your score.
