Student answer (Band 6.0)
The global fashion market is no longer different from the stocks market in today’s world. The global fashion market changes every day, you might find yourself buying the most trendiest piece of clothing on that day, but on the next day, some influencer may criticize it, and it would immediately go out of trend. Global fashion has influenced many people. This is because the global fashion market uses influences to promote their product. The consumers on the other hand, find these ambassador to their liking, and therefore want to obtain that fashion sense to satisfy themselves . In the year 2020, skinny pants occupied everyone’s life. Many people decided to workout so as to get a leaner body which could be perfect under a skinny pair of trousers. As time went by, many celebrities and fashion enthusiasts like Nike decided to shift back to baggy pants just like the early 2000’s. This change was rapid and many people started to find it attractive and called it as “old money”. Consumers that owned skinny pants left them at the back of the drawer and spend tremendous amounts of money to get the trendy baggy pants. This according to me is a negative impact of the ever changing global fashion industry. You may buy a pair of jeans and plan to wear it for months but before u make fully use of them, they are out of fashion within weeks making u stand out and spend money on something that u wouldn’t use.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the influence of global fashion and the evaluation of whether this is positive or negative. The ideas are relevant, particularly the discussion on social media influencers and the rapid cycle of trends. However, the development is somewhat limited. The argument regarding the negative impact is clear, but it lacks depth and could have been extended further to reach a higher band. The position is consistent, but the essay would benefit from a more balanced exploration or a more sophisticated analysis of the 'positive' side to provide a more comprehensive response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is coherent, but it suffers from a lack of paragraphing. The entire response is written as a single block of text, which hinders the logical progression of ideas. While there are some cohesive devices used, such as 'on the other hand' and 'as time went by', the overall structure is mechanical. To improve, the student should divide the response into clear paragraphs: an introduction, body paragraphs for each main point, and a conclusion. This would significantly improve the flow and readability of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, with some good attempts at topic-specific language like 'global fashion market', 'influencers', and 'ambassador'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'stocks market' instead of 'stock market' and 'most trendiest', which is a grammatical error in the superlative form. The range is sufficient to convey meaning, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. Expanding the range of synonyms and collocations would enhance the quality of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'the most trendiest' (double superlative), 'called it as' (incorrect preposition usage), and the informal use of 'u' instead of 'you'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some missing commas and awkward phrasing. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and avoiding informal abbreviations will help improve the accuracy of the writing.
