Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under-length at only 85 words, failing to meet the 250-word minimum requirement. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed. While you attempt to introduce the topic of global fashion and influencers, the ideas are not developed, and the essay ends abruptly after only two short paragraphs. To improve, you must expand on your arguments by providing specific examples and explanations for both the influence of fashion and your opinion on whether it is a positive or negative development. The current response lacks the depth and structure required for an IELTS Academic Task 2 essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay lacks a clear logical progression due to its extreme brevity. While there is a basic attempt at paragraphing, the ideas are fragmented and the transition between the introduction and the second paragraph is non-existent. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link sentences or ideas effectively. To achieve a higher band, you need to ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that ideas are connected using linking words such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in contrast' to guide the reader through your argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is quite basic and repetitive, such as the repeated use of 'people' and 'dress'. There are also errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'global tradition' instead of 'global trends' and 'as their influencers likes' which is grammatically incorrect. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas. To improve, you should focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to fashion and media, and aim to use a wider variety of synonyms to avoid repetition.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the short text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('people uses', 'people wants', 'influencers likes') and missing auxiliary verbs ('themselves influenced' instead of 'themselves are influenced'). The sentence structures are simple and lack the complexity required for higher bands. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and ensure that you include necessary articles and auxiliary verbs. Practice constructing complex sentences using subordinating conjunctions to demonstrate a wider range of grammatical control.
