Student answer (Band 6.0)
Recently, international fashion has really impacted the way people dress in society. While this trend has some benefits as it encourages socialization, it also has some drawbacks as it has led to indecent dressing among youth. In my opinion, I think the advantages of this trend outweigh the disadvantages.
On the one hand, global fashion has encouraged socialization among people. This is simply because people from different cultures and backgrounds can now share something in common through fashion, where someone based in the Nigeria will dress and look like a Ghanaian. For instance, the suit Nigerians wear today in offices are not our traditional attire but that of the foreigners.
Therefore, I will say global fashion has contributed greatly to socialization.
On the other hand, despite the fact that this development has some benefits it is also associated with some drawbacks as it encouraged indecent dressing among youth. Inappropriate dressing among youth has gotten to it peak, as young females wear exposing dress and male sagging their trousers, this has been as a result of global fashion. For example, in Nigeria recently women do not longer wear underwear as they say it old fashion, infact they now celebrate a no bra day.
In conclusion, although global fashion has encouraged socialization among people, but has also contributed massively to indecent dressing among youths. In my opinion, I think that the advantages associated with global fashion outweigh the disadvantages as dressing in society can be strictly monitored and the government can also implement rules on how people dress.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the influence of global fashion and the evaluation of its impact. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention socialization and indecent dressing, the arguments lack depth and specific, logical elaboration. For instance, the link between global fashion and 'no bra day' is anecdotal and lacks a clear, analytical connection to the broader concept of global fashion trends. To reach a higher band, ensure that your supporting points are more balanced and logically connected to the prompt. Your position is clear, but the justification for why the advantages outweigh the disadvantages is underdeveloped in the conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'On the other hand,' and 'In conclusion' to signal the structure. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Therefore, I will say global fashion has contributed...' and the use of 'but' in the conclusion after 'although' is grammatically incorrect. Referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect ideas more fluidly rather than relying on simple sentence-initial connectors.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You use some relevant terms like 'traditional attire' and 'indecent dressing,' but there is also repetitive phrasing and some awkward collocations, such as 'gotten to it peak' (should be 'reached its peak') and 'it old fashion' (should be 'out of fashion'). There are also minor errors in word choice that occasionally distract the reader. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated synonyms and ensuring that collocations are natural and accurate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the clarity of your writing. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('the suit Nigerians wear... are'), missing articles ('in the Nigeria'), and incorrect verb forms ('do not longer wear'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. You should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with pluralization, articles, and verb tense consistency.
