Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, people's clothes are strongly influenced by global fashion trends. This has become common because of social media, the internet and international brands. In my opinion, this is mostly a positive development, although it also has some advantages.
There are several reasons why global fashion has become so popular. Firstly, social media has a big influence on people. People can easily see new clothes and styles on Instagram, Tiktok and other websites. They often follow famous people and copy their style. Secondly, international clothing companies are now available in many countries. People can buy similar clothes from different parts of the world. For instance, young people in Pakistan can buy clothes that are popular in the UK or the USA.
I believe global fashion has some positive effects. It gives people more choices and help them find clothes that match their personality. It can also make people feel more confident when they wear modern clothes. In addition, fashion can create jobs in shops, factories and online businesses.
However, there are also some negative effects. Some people spend too much money on clothes because they want to follow every trend. This can cause financial problems. Also, people may stop wearing their traditional clothes because they want to look modern. This can slowly reduce interest in local culture and traditions.
In conclusion, global fashion has become a strong influence mainly because of social media, the internet and international brands. I think it is generally positive because it gives people more choices, but people should not spend too much money or forget their own culture.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt. You clearly identify the drivers of global fashion (social media, internet, international brands) and provide a balanced view on whether it is a positive or negative development. The position is consistent throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat basic. For example, while you mention that fashion creates jobs, this point could be expanded with more specific detail or a clearer link to the global nature of the industry. To reach a higher band, ensure that your supporting arguments are more fully extended rather than just listed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central topic, and you use basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'In addition', and 'However' to guide the reader. While the flow is logical, the transitions are somewhat mechanical. To improve, try to vary your linking words and use more sophisticated referencing (e.g., 'This phenomenon', 'Such trends') to connect ideas more fluidly between sentences rather than relying on simple sequence markers.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use topic-specific terms like 'global fashion trends', 'international clothing companies', and 'traditional clothes'. However, the vocabulary is somewhat repetitive and lacks the precision or 'less common' lexical items required for a higher band. Phrases like 'big influence' or 'good/bad effects' are quite generic. Incorporating more precise collocations and academic synonyms would significantly enhance your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. Most sentences are clear and error-free, which ensures that communication is never impeded. You show control over basic grammar, including subject-verb agreement and tense usage. However, there is a lack of more complex grammatical structures, such as conditional sentences or passive voice constructions, which are expected at higher levels. To improve, aim to integrate more varied sentence types and ensure that your punctuation is consistently accurate throughout.
