Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this growing era of technology and population global fashion brands are investing more on social media and influencer marketing for attracting young people to try out their fashion and create trend , this in my opinion is a negative development as it encourages people to follow forget about their culture and traditional attire which represents their country and community

Recently many global brands are collabrating with trending influencer on social media to quickly market their fashion brands and influencing young people following their idols to try out new fashion trends which keeps on changing every quarter a new drop is introduced. This short term fashion trends makes people keep on trying new fashion every time slowly forgetting about their traditional and cultural attires which represents their community for example many of our grand parents use to wear a traditional clothes only in every occassion while due to this fast changing fashion people are very less likely to follow their traditional attire

For reducing this effect people should consider the values of wearing their traditional attire sustaining it for passing on to their next generations which keeps their valuable cultral aspects and traditions in fashion for several years even after grand childrens should know about their familly traditions. This also affects the local seller who dont sell global brand clothes but they sell traditional clothes with handcraft designs

In conclusion , people should not blindly follow the global fashion brands and influencers paid promotions but should keep wearing their traditional attire preserving their cultural values and traditions which represents their community

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the influence of global fashion and the evaluation of this trend. However, the development is somewhat limited. While you clearly state that the influence stems from social media and influencer marketing, the discussion on whether this is a positive or negative development is repetitive. You focus heavily on the loss of traditional attire but could have explored other aspects, such as the economic impact or the benefits of global connectivity, to provide a more balanced or nuanced argument. The ideas are relevant, but they lack the depth required for a higher band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into four paragraphs, which is a good structure. However, the flow between sentences is often mechanical. You rely on simple sentence structures and lack a variety of cohesive devices to link ideas smoothly. For example, the transition between the influence of social media and the impact on traditional clothing is abrupt. Furthermore, the use of punctuation is inconsistent, particularly with run-on sentences that lack proper commas or conjunctions, which hinders the logical progression of your arguments. More sophisticated linking words like 'consequently', 'furthermore', or 'in contrast' would improve the coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision expected at higher levels. You use basic terms like 'trying new fashion' and 'fast changing fashion' repeatedly. There are also some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'collabrating' (spelling) and 'grand childrens' (should be 'grandchildren'). While your meaning is generally clear, the lack of more sophisticated or academic vocabulary limits your score. To improve, try to incorporate more precise terminology related to consumerism, cultural heritage, and the influence of media.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay consists mostly of simple and compound sentences. There is a lack of complex grammatical structures, such as relative clauses or conditional sentences, which are necessary for a higher band. You also have frequent errors in punctuation and sentence boundaries; for instance, the first paragraph is essentially one long, run-on sentence. There are also errors in subject-verb agreement, such as 'many of our grand parents use to wear' (should be 'used to wear') and 'local seller who dont sell' (should be 'sellers who don't sell'). These errors are frequent and occasionally make the text difficult to follow.
