Student answer (Band 6.0)
In this growing era of technology and population, global fashion brands are investing more in social media and influencer marketing to attract young people to try out their fashion and create trends. This, in my opinion, is a negative development as it encourages people to follow trends and forget about their culture and traditional attire, which represents their country and community.
Recently, many global brands have been collaborating with trending influencers on social media to quickly market their fashion brands and influence young people who follow their idols to try out new fashion trends, which keep on changing. Every quarter, a new drop is introduced. These short-term fashion trends make people keep on trying new fashion every time, slowly forgetting about their traditional and cultural attire, which represents their community. For example, many of our grandparents used to wear traditional clothes only on every occasion, while due to this fast-changing fashion, people are very less likely to follow their traditional attire.
To reduce this effect, people should consider the value of wearing their traditional attire, sustaining it for passing on to their next generations, which keeps their valuable cultural aspects and traditions in fashion for several years. Even after their grandchildren grow up, they should know about their family traditions. This also affects local sellers who do not sell global brand clothes but sell traditional clothes with handcrafted designs.
In conclusion, people should not blindly follow global fashion brands and influencers' paid promotions but should keep wearing their traditional attire, preserving their cultural values and traditions, which represent their community.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the influence of global fashion and the evaluation of this as a negative development. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention social media and influencers, the explanation of 'how' this influence works could be more detailed. The argument regarding the loss of traditional attire is relevant, but it is repeated several times rather than being extended with further analysis or diverse examples. To reach a higher band, consider exploring other factors like the psychological impact of consumerism or the economic benefits of global fashion to provide a more balanced and nuanced discussion before concluding.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In this growing era', 'Recently', and 'To reduce this effect', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally repetitive (e.g., the phrase 'traditional and cultural attire' is used frequently). Improving the variety of cohesive links and ensuring that ideas flow more naturally between sentences would enhance the overall coherence of the piece.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate and appropriate for the task, allowing the message to be conveyed clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'influencer marketing', 'global fashion brands', and 'handcrafted designs'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a tendency to repeat words like 'fashion', 'trends', and 'attire' rather than using synonyms or more sophisticated collocations. To improve, try to incorporate a wider range of less common lexical items related to consumer behavior, cultural heritage, and societal change to demonstrate greater precision and flexibility.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. Most sentences are clear, and errors in grammar and punctuation are infrequent and do not impede communication. For instance, 'people are very less likely' is slightly awkward; 'much less likely' would be more natural. There are also minor issues with article usage and prepositional phrasing. While you have attempted complex sentences, increasing the variety of subordinate clauses and ensuring more precise control over verb tenses would help move your score into the higher bands.
