Student answer (Band 5.5)

In these days, our society has a large number of people who are trying to wear the dress according to the global fashion trends.

In this essay, influences of global fashion will be discussed in detail with a suitable conclusion. In my opinion, its a negative development, I explain it with a suitable reasons.

In these days, some people are influenced by the global fashion trends because they follow the community on the social media who are fully engaged in this fashion. They thought that, It's a better way to keep ourselves update in this modern age. These modern fashions are eradicating the old fashions and people are becoming modern day by day.

It is also a negative development for our society because this fashion becomes worsen day by day. People spending large amount of their precious money on these fashions which are not suitable for our country economy. Instead of purchasing these international expensive brands, the people should invest in local brands for the sake of our country. A prime instance is that, a person who has with a very low monthly income in our society, If he try to spending large amount money on this fashion then this fashion disturbs his financial condition and its not beneficial for him.

In fact, this fashion also working as an alarming effect for our society. People try to wear nude dresses on public places which is a threat for our social and religious norms. These fashions are only for the people who are currently living in the Europe not for the local people of our society.

In my opinion, its a negative development because its harms are more dangerous then the benefits. These fashions are against to our social, political or religious cultures.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the influence of global fashion and the evaluation of whether it is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention social media and economic impact, the arguments remain quite general and lack specific, well-developed examples. For instance, the claim that people wear 'nude dresses' is a broad generalization that lacks nuance or context. To improve, ensure that each paragraph provides a clear, logical progression of thought with more detailed supporting evidence rather than repeating the same point about financial strain or cultural conflict.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or repetitive. Phrases like 'In these days' and 'In my opinion' are used frequently, and the transition between sentences can feel abrupt. The logical flow within paragraphs is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing, such as the transition from discussing social media to the economic impact. Using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently,' 'furthermore,' 'nevertheless') would help create a smoother, more professional flow between your ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. You rely on basic terms like 'good,' 'bad,' 'modern,' and 'fashion.' There are also some issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'this fashion becomes worsen' (should be 'worsens') and 'nude dresses' (which likely refers to revealing clothing, but 'nude' is not the correct term here). To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to sociology, economics, and consumer behavior to express your points with greater clarity and impact.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people... are trying to wear the dress'), incorrect verb tenses (e.g., 'They thought that, It's a better way'), and article usage. Additionally, punctuation is inconsistent, particularly with comma splices and capitalization. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage would be highly beneficial.
