Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the modern era, the fashion trends adapted more towards the modernization as it plays crucial role in individual lifestyle. Certainly, global fashion trends influence everyone as companies are investing more in advertising the fashion industries. Although, I believe that it has a negative impact on our youth because the value of traditional style was diminished.

To begin with, the youth became more influenced by certain types of clothes that promote modernization. One reason is that people tend to believe that by engaging more in modern clothing style, their standard and lifestyle will be change. Moreover, there is a common perception evolved that individual can not be judged by the clothes they wore because more focus in on the modern way of clothing. For instance, some filmmaking industries recognized the interest of youth in fashion trends and begins to promote in movies, advertisements and so on. Therefore, numerous people found their interest in these kind of clothes.

Furthermore, global fashion sometimes lead to negative impact in people's lives because the fashion sense is based on the tactics that only revealing clothes might look good. Notably, clothes that are revealing can be disregarded by people more often. On the other hand, people forget about their culture and importance of wearing traditional clothes. However, in certain cases it can be seen that people in today's time are less likely to engaged in cultural activities such as prayers, visiting temples and all due to traditional clothing. Consequently, the roots of our culture is getting fade day by day.

In conclusion, it is necessary to get adapt towards the trend only if it is advantageous for us. Although, I believe that modern clothing negatively impacts ourselves. This is primarily because the tradition clothing losses it's identity and revealing clothes are not appealing to everyone.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying the influence of advertising and media on fashion and expressing a clear negative stance. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The argument regarding 'revealing clothes' and the decline of cultural practices is a bit repetitive and lacks specific, well-explained examples. The link between modern fashion and the abandonment of cultural activities like 'visiting temples' is asserted rather than logically developed. To reach a higher band, you should provide more nuanced reasoning and ensure that your examples directly support your main arguments rather than relying on generalizations.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a central theme. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with,' 'Moreover,' and 'Consequently' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is slightly disjointed, particularly in the third paragraph where the connection between fashion and cultural activities is abrupt. Referencing is generally clear, but the logical progression within paragraphs could be smoother. The conclusion effectively summarizes your position, though it introduces a slight shift in focus by mentioning 'revealing clothes' again without adding new depth.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'modernization,' 'tactic,' and 'advantageous.' However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'adapted more towards the modernization,' 'standard and lifestyle will be change,' and 'roots of our culture is getting fade.' These errors occasionally hinder the precision of your argument. To improve, focus on learning collocations (words that naturally go together) and ensure you are using the correct word forms (e.g., 'fading' instead of 'getting fade').

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, they often contain grammatical errors, such as 'individual can not be judged by the clothes they wore' (tense inconsistency) and 'traditional clothing losses it's identity' (subject-verb agreement and possessive error). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are frequent minor errors in verb tense and article usage throughout the text. These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, but they do limit the overall accuracy of your writing.
