Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 126 words. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed. While the introduction attempts to outline a position, the body paragraphs are severely underdeveloped and incomplete. The second paragraph abruptly ends mid-sentence, and the response fails to address the first part of the prompt regarding how global fashion has become such a strong influence. Due to the significant lack of development and the failure to meet the length requirement, the response cannot be considered a complete essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay shows some attempt at logical organization, such as the use of 'On the other hand' to signal a new point. However, the progression of ideas is severely hampered by the incomplete nature of the text. The abrupt ending of the second paragraph makes it impossible to evaluate the overall coherence of the argument. Paragraphing is present but ineffective because the content within the paragraphs is fragmented and lacks sufficient development to establish a clear flow of information.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'economical disturbances on persons pocket' and 'expand more money on buy fashion clothes' demonstrate a lack of control over word choice and collocation. There are noticeable errors in word formation and usage, such as 'expand' instead of 'spend'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas, and the errors occasionally make the intended meaning slightly difficult to follow, though the general topic remains clear.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response relies on a very limited range of sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'There has been a controversy going on whether...' which is clunky, and 'people expand more money on buy fashion clothes', which contains errors in verb choice and preposition usage. Punctuation is also problematic, such as the sentence fragment 'However. I am of the opinion...'. These errors are frequent and, combined with the incomplete sentences, significantly impact the clarity of the writing.
