Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you address both parts of the prompt—the influence of social media and the positive/negative aspects—the arguments are underdeveloped. For instance, the discussion on financial distress is brief and lacks specific examples or a deeper analysis of the societal implications. To improve, you must expand your supporting points with more detailed explanations and concrete examples to ensure the response is fully developed. The position is clear, but the lack of length prevents a higher score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'In this contemporary age,' 'Another thing to consider,' and 'In conclusion.' However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the transition between the positive and negative aspects could be smoother. The referencing is generally clear, but the overall structure feels somewhat repetitive due to the limited length. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, well-supported topic sentence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on common phrases like 'huge role' and 'modern age.' There are also some errors in word choice and form, such as 'dressing sense' (instead of 'style' or 'fashion sense') and 'developement' (spelling error). While you attempt to use specific brand names like 'Gucci' and 'prada,' the overall lexical range is limited. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'consumerism,' 'societal pressure,' or 'aesthetic preferences,' and pay closer attention to spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'many people dressing sense are' (should be 'many people's dressing sense is'), 'practice help them' (subject-verb agreement), and 'are consider to as' (incorrect passive construction). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are issues with capitalization (e.g., 'prada'). To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct formation of passive voice. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures while ensuring accuracy will help you achieve a higher band score.
