Student answer (Band 5.5)

There have been a strong debate of how universal fashion trend have changed the perspective a lot of individuals have towards dressing in the generation, arguing if has a good impact or not we are going to find out about that in the passage below.

Personally, i think the way people style their outfit currently was inspired from the latest clothing trend. Generally, i believe so many of us get convinced by what we see on social media and who brings it on the internet. For instance, if it has to do with our best celebrity's like models, musicians, and famous film actors and actresses. To illustrate, if someone i look up to or that inspires me dresses a certain way i always want to look that same way too.

Furthermore, the impact which the contemporary fashion trend has on people is a very good one given that most of them educates us about how to dress or make our apparel look more sophisticated and classy. Additionally, in some cases it reminds us of our culture and where we are from. For example, the recent models has brought out a new way for designing our traditional attire instead of looking boring and outdated.

In summary, the current fashion style has done a lot good impacting us about how to look presentable. Although, not all fashion trend has a good impact or looks nice, some of them dose not go well with the era we are in but nevertheless it has done more good than bad in the society at large

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the influence of global fashion and whether this is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention social media and celebrities as influences, the explanation lacks depth. Similarly, the argument for the positive impact is brief and relies on general statements rather than specific, well-supported examples. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more detailed reasoning and clearer examples. The position is clear throughout, but the overall development is limited, which prevents a higher score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'Additionally', and 'In summary' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the logical progression within paragraphs could be smoother. For instance, the transition between the influence of celebrities and the cultural impact is abrupt. Referencing is generally clear, but the overall structure feels a bit repetitive in its approach to linking sentences. Improving the variety of cohesive devices would enhance the logical flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on common words like 'good', 'nice', and 'look'. While you attempt some topic-specific vocabulary such as 'sophisticated', 'classy', and 'traditional attire', there are instances of word-choice errors, such as 'educates us about how to dress' (should be 'advises' or 'influences') and 'impact... is a very good one'. Spelling is generally accurate, but the lack of sophisticated or idiomatic language limits the score to a 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow, such as 'There have been a strong debate' (subject-verb agreement), 'celebrity's' (incorrect pluralisation), and 'some of them dose not go well' (spelling and agreement). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors indicates a lack of control over more complex structures. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and plural forms will significantly improve your accuracy.
